This is always a tough question to answer because it depends on what I am up to. I suppose general overall top three would be:

WBC
HERM

Certainly value those commentaries you mention Donnie, but I am fond of these ones:
(a) William MacDonald's one volume, Christ-centred "Believers Commentary;"
(b) H.A. Ironside's commentary series; and
(c) hmmm maybe - The Expositor's Commentary or IVP Background commentaries.

1. The Bible - speaks for itself
2. Commentary on NT use of OT - OT & NT should be read in light of each other so this is a helpful resource.
3. New Bible Commentary - I like to start with a single volume commentary and find this one is not too light but not overdone.
Many good commentaries in Logos hard to pinpoint specific ones as each set has its own strengths and weaknesses in terms of both content & style, often complementing others. Often depends on your scope and focus as to which one's are the best. Whatever you choose it should always be evaluated against the scriptures.

Josh, this thread is a good opptunity to remind people of the Prioritize function in the Library window. Do you think people are describing their actual prioritized commentaries?
FWIW, the top 4 sets I have prioritized at present are:
- NIGTC (New International Greek Testament Commentary)
- BECNT (Baker Exegetical Commentary on the NT)
- WBC (Word Bible Commentaries)
- Hermeneia
I find that mix gives me a range of perspectives.

EBC, WBC, NICOT/NT are some of the resources my seminary highly recomends.
I find it telling that no one mentions Anchor... I was wondering about its position on the right vs left continuum.L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,

I have never used Opening Up, but I'll vote for your other two as favorites.
So far I like the Mentor series (new to me on Logos...had never used them before). I also love the Reformed Expository Commentaries, but they are not yet available on Logos. I've used Tyndale in paper copies for years...I like many of the volumes (but not all). I like MacArthur's books and the NAC set (most of them), and have learned to appreciate the BECNT books as well. I really like some of the Pillar volumes as well. And I grab anything on the OT written by D. R. Davis.

Since some of my favorite commentary series do not include the Old Testament, I will fudge and include 4 sets:
- New International Commentary on the New Testament/Old Testament (NICNT/NICOT)
- New International Greek Testament Commentary (NIGTC)
- Pillar New Testament Commentary (PNTC)
- Word Biblical Commentaries (WBC)

- Believer's Church Bible Commentary (the volumes I have: ******. Anabaptist)
- Hermeneia (well some of the volumes I give *****. This set has many happy surprises, good overall quality, covers several such works that hardly any other set covers, and it's critical)
