Logos 3.0g Biblical People Database Missing!!

I'm getting the message that Biblical People Database is missing when I try to access the Biblical People in the tools pull down. I have all the updates installed but it's still not functioning. Any help would be appreciated. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.

Hi Waton, welcome to the Logos forums!

I'm puzzled. You say you're running Logos 3.0g, and you've posted this question in the Logos 3 forum. But then you refer to the Tools/Biblical People command, which is a new command as of Logos 4, so there's no way you could access that command in Logos 3.x and get such an error message. Could you first clarify what version you are actually running?

Also, what base package do you have? The Biblical People dataset is only included in the base packages (if you're running Logos 4, I can't look up what package is the minimum for this because the Logos website comparison chart has now been updated to refer to Logos 5 base packages, where Starter is the minimum to get Biblical People).

I've never heard of someone getting that error message. Usually when someone has not got the minimum base package necessary for the Biblical People database, that command would be grey on the menu. But if you're seeing the command and still getting the error message, then maybe something went wrong with your installation and the database file is actually missing or corrupted somehow.

If you are running Logos 4 or above, look in the folder C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\{random_folder_name}\Resources for a file called BiblicalPeople.lbsbpd. Is it there? How big is it?

I have the L4 Comp chart on PDF and I don't see the software integrated elements listed. But my immediate reaction to the post title was the same as yours, Rosie. We're talking flying pigs, purple cows, and square circles here.

Libronix 'people' access is Tools > Bible Data > Biblical People. So, just in case we are talking about Libronix, Rosie's right that there shouldn't be an error message if the addin were not authorized; it'd simply not show in the menu.

(0) First, have you already applied the Internet Explorer 9 patch from the Logos site? Chances are, that's not the cause, but you should anyway just in case.

(1) Try a FULL restart (make sure both Libronix and LibSys are dead befores restart; Task Manager). See if that doesn't fix it.

(2) Go to Tools > Options > General > Addins and makes sure there's a Biblical People Addin listed. Make sure checked. If not, check it and re-start.

(3) The last possibility is the file itself is degraded; in that case you'd want to do a re-install (backup the Libronix resources and licenses; you should anyway) plus backup the user files (My Documents > Libronix) .

If you don't know where each of these are, just reply back.

EDIT: You must restart Libronix after running the script for any changes to take effect. (I seem to remember that in some cases, Libronix had to be restarted twice, but I don't know if that pertains to any of the above.)

It's interesting that the resource update that Richard lists DOES include an update to Biblical People. I'm trying it out on one of my PCs to see if it's ok.

EDIT: Well, ok. That didn't work. Now that PC doesn't have any Biblical People. They seemed to have been deported, probably by Sargon II. I'll have to re-deport them back from my Darius PC.

EDIT: I also tried the Addin script above. It seemed to be operated by the Sargon II people; no more Biblical People to deport.

Sorry about the delay. Yes I'm talking about Libronix/Logos 3g. I can see the Addin for Biblical People in the Tools/General Section. I ran the IE9 patch but that didn't help so I even revert to IE8 thinking that might do the trick and it didn't. I have all the updates so my last guess is I'll probably have to do a fresh install but i was reading something yesterday about maybe having to change the date on my PC back to 12/09. I don't know it's just that the Biblical People Addin helps me alot with my studying. I just went to access it the other day and it said "Biblical People Database is Missing."

Look here: C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\Common\People (or C:\Program Files (x86)\Libronix DLS\Common\People, for 64bit installation) and check if the file BiblicalPeople.lbxppl is present. If not, it may not be installed on your system, or you may have to copy the file from a previous installation. Unlike Logos4/5, Libronix does not automatically install/copy all your resources and addins from its servers. So, you may have a disk somewhere that will install/copy it for you. But the easiest solution would be to find a previous installation where it was working and simply copy the file to the correct location.

If the file is present, but you still don't have access, it's possible that the file is corrupt. In that case, you'd need to delete it and try to find a "known good" copy of the file.

Also, make sure your licenses are updated/synced with Logos' servers. It's been a while since I looked, but I believe Tools>Account Mangement is where to start.

If your licenses are all synced, the file is known to be not corrupted, your datafile script shows that everything is up to date, and you're still not able to use the tool, I'm at a loss as to other suggestions.

I don't know it's just that the Biblical People Addin helps me alot with my studying. I just went to access it the other day and it said "Biblical People Database is Missing."

Just thinking .... For you to have Biblical People in 3.0g, you must have a pretty good package; because I believe you need a pretty good package to have it in the first place. (I'm not sure what base package you originally had to have; but you do HAVE IT! *smile* I have it also: ..... However, I don't use it any longer (or hardly ever!) because I've been using Biblical People on L4 an now L5.0. Suits me fine! I love Logos 5.

I did keep my working copy of Logos 3.0g on my computer, and I can see why you might want to use that data base program also, even though some of us don't use it very much any more. You must be hard-pressed; and my heart goes out to you!

Would you share why you do not use at least Logos 4? All the resources you have entitle you to so; and the free upgrade or crossgrade for Logos 5(whatever it's called will be available for Logos 5 within the near future). This might be a time to add at least Logos 4 to your computer along with Logos 3 like I do!

Libronix 'people' access is Tools > Bible Data > Biblical People.

Sorry about my misinformation. I didn't have it on my menu in Libronix so I thought it was never there. I guess I never bought that addin for L3. I had Scholar's Library Gold back then, and it must not have come with Biblical People. I didn't upgrade to Portfolio until L4.

In doing everything I suggested, I assume you:

confirmed that the file is present and in the right place?
synced your licenses with Logos with the same user ID you used when you purchased the addin (or the user ID you've updated through Logos)?
closed and restarted Libronix?

Sometimes clearing the IE cache has helped solve problems with Libronix. You might as well remove as many temp files as you can, while you're at it (I recommend CCleaner - a free utility that does that (it also comes in a paid version), but adjust the defaults so as not to erase all your browser cookies).

Your only other option (AFAIK) is to find the disk (CD or DVD) that your license for the addin was on, or the script you got by email to download it, and install from there.
