Mourning the passing of Logos Bible Atlas

I'm having a sad day. I can't get Logos Bible Atlas to load on my new Windows 8 computers. I've tried under a variety of legacy settings and it just won't do.

This marvelous app lets you create customized maps of the Ancient Near East, choosing colors, which sites are included, and just the regions you want to show. They are easily exported as bitmaps to Word and Powerpoint. I know Logos 5 comes with great maps, but they can't be edited.

Is there any way this great app can be updated and offered again?

Peace, Steve! I thought I had all of Logos' Map Stuff; however, this one I don't seem to have. Please tell us more! Has it been for sale in the past at Logos.com ?

I just opened my old Logos 3.0g and found that great PBB that Joe did years ago. Is that the one you mean? Can you help me satisfy my curiosity?

Logos Bible Atlas is a 16-bit program, which is not supported by 64-bit Windows. On the off-change that you are running a 32-bit version of Windows 8, which is probably unlikely, you can enable 16-bit Application Support in Control Panel: http://superuser.com/a/490375. Otherwise, the only solution I can think of is setting up a virtual machine with a copy of Windows XP or Windows 7 32-bit, and loading LBA in that. (This will require a legal license for the virtualised version of Windows, which you may be able to transfer from your old machine.)

LBA used to be on the Logos site. It's an interesting program. Sometimes when you can't find something in Logos4/5, LBA has it (though of course locations are always arguable, when you're back in the iron/bronze age.)

I made a screen copy of one of the screens; I've been reading up on Edom during the late bronze and thense through the iron. Mithkah was a station mentioned in Numbers.

Note the buttons at the bottom of the screen for which periods you want. It also has 3-D views. As Bradley mentions, it runs fine in a virtual-box (along with the best Bible software ever written of course).

Unfortunately, both my PCs are running 64-bit Windows 8. I will ask a tech-savvy friend about a virtual "Win 7" configuration, but it sounds above my paygrade. As a matter of fact, I ran Logos Bible Atlas on a virtual XP machine under Win 7. I'll do some web surfing and see if there are workarounds.

My query to Logos tech support ended up at customer service and garnered this reply:
