Any word on when books might get the ability to sync with your desktop.
Hi Randy
In what way do you want them to sync. Those books that are available for the iOS can be used either on line or off line if downloaded.
Are you referring to Personal Books (PBs)? If so, I personally haven't heard about when they will be synced with iOS devices, although others may be able to shed some light on this.
This is definitely a feature I would look forward to in future updates.

The primary issue with personal books is that an exponentially larger amount of data would need to be kept by Logos. Currently, the metadata (a small amount of data) syncs between your desktop computers for PBB's, but the actual books themselves (a large amount of data) do not. Bob has said that he plans to allow users to sync this data at some point, but there is no telling when that might be. It could be months or years.
Sorry for not being clear Mike. I want to be able to read from a resource I have in my Logos library- for example Spurgeon's Autobiography- on my desktop, save it on page xx, open Spurgeon's Autobiography on my iPad and find it on the same page I saved on my desktop.

It does this to some extent now… kind of. For example… Open a book you have been reading on your mobile device/desktop on biblia.com. You should find that it has turned to the page you were viewing on your mobile device / desktop. I have found this to work as well with the desktop & mobile apps unless the resource was already open in both places. For example, I was reading a new book today on my iPhone. I just opened it on biblia.com & my desktop. Both opened to the chapter I was about to begin. On the other hand, my iPad opened to the ESV. The book & chapter was NOT what I had left off on using my iPhone app. I assume that this is because the local setting took precedence. I guess it could be a sync error instead, but that is what my experience has been.
I'm having the same problem as Randy. I often read between three devices, Mac, iPad and iPhone. The SYNC seems to be random. Mac does not update when I read further ahead on iPhone or iPad. Is there a solution to manually a sync so the devices stay together?

The sync is likely working, but the behavior is a little different than you are expecting. Here are some pointers:
There is certainly room for improvement with location sync, although the current behavior is useful and expected under many circumstances.

The sync is likely working, but the behavior is a little different than you are expecting. Here are some pointers: Any saved layout on your desktop saves the actual location of the resources. The sync feature is bypassed when you have a resource left "open" in a layout since Logos assumes that you want to pick up where you left off when you saved the layout last (rather than where you left of on another device). In other words, the resource "stays in place." To avoid issues like above, you must not open a layout with the resource still active. Create a new one if you need to. When you open the resource "cold" in this manner, you should find that it syncs to your last used location. Although the mobile app doesn't have "layouts" in the same way that the desktop app, there is a corresponding behavior. If a resource is left open on the mobile app, Logos assumes you want to pick up where you left off when you closed the mobile app last. To avoid this issue, make sure the book you are reading isn't in either pane when you close the app. NOTE: the mobile app has two reading panes. One may be hidden if you have the other resource at full screen. There is certainly room for improvement with location sync, although the current behavior is useful and expected under many circumstances.
I think if you polled a majority of app users, they would say we prefer to have it assume that I want it to open where it was last left in any device no matter whether I left it open or not. I sometimes forget to close books and want it to open on my various devices to the latest spot left no matter which device I used. Here's my dilemma.
I open a book on iPhone. Then just put down the phone. Two hours later I open iPad and want to pick up where I left off on the iPHone. But the above sync behavior will not allow for this. So I must search for the spot. A bookmark feature would help, but again I must remember to add it.
Then I open the book on my Mac wanting to prepare a Bible study with content from the book. Same problem sometimes.
In fact I didn't know the above was the default. I assume it is fact since Alabama24 my favorite app guru said it is so. [:D]
It just seems opposite of what I'd expect it to do by default.
I agree with the current default behavior, it makes sense that when you pick up a device it remains at the location where you left that particular device-that's how a book works. It would be unexpected if it flipped ahead without my command. However, I do believe we definitely need a Sync to Furthest Page Read command like the Kindle has:

I agree with a "furthest read" feature. However I think you might not be clear as to what some of us are asking for. It's not that we want the book to be "flipped ahead without my command." Instead we want to book to sync no matter what to the points where I'm currently reading no matter what device I'm reading. here's the scenario again.
Let's say I'm reading Pilgrim's Progress on my iPad and get to page 42. Then I just put my ipad in by bookbag without doing anything but closing the smart cover so the screen sleeps. Three hours later I pull out my iPhone as I'm standing in line at the bus stop and I start reading. I want it to be on page 42 no matter where it was when I last opened it on my iPhone. Then I read to page 44. I get to my office and fire up my computer and decide to read a few pages on the computer. The book should open to page 44 on the computer. If I read to page 55, when I open either my iPhone, my iPad or my hope computer they should all open to page 55.
There could be a link somewhere that says, "Open to furthest read or last left off on this device" when I open the book. That way we both get what we want easily. That may present extremely difficult coding challenges. I don't know. But it sure would be sweet.
