Query: Active Layout

If I "Update active" from the current snapshot why delete the previous layout with that name?
I had two "Active" layouts named "laptop 5.A" from Tuesday and Wednesday. The Wednesday layout was deleted after "Update active". But one of those came from renaming (Save as) a layout and nothing got deleted!

The case for this issue has been resolved as by design. We intentionally keep all versions of named layouts in case someone inadvertently updated the layout or wants to go back to a previous version.

Then why does "update Active" delete the previous version?

I see. I think I reported the issue backwards. There is a new case for the 'Update' methods not creating a new snapshot.
