Are personal books backed up by Logos?

Wow, I went to bed last night and woke up to an exciting discussion. It would be nice if our PB were automatically backed up but that's not how I understood it.

The metadata for Personal Books (that appears in the Personal Books panel) is backed up "in the cloud" and synced between computers.

The source files (*.docx) and the compiled output (*.lbspbb) for Personal Books are not currently synced. We are working on the latter and will announce it when it's done.

For the former, my personal recommendation would be signing up for a service like Dropbox (referral link: http://db.tt/mWkPNiT) and storing the docx files in your Dropbox folder, which will sync between machines. That way, you don't have to worry about conflicting edits being made on different computers.

I think the metadata backup on the Logos servers was how one of my executed PB's was resurrected from the dead?

I deleted him in the PB panel; he disappeared in my library. Then days later, he re-appeared in my library (and readable too). So I dragged the resurrected version over to my Hidden Resources and restarted. He wouldn't die. But then a while later I restarted and he finally left. Very similar to evil spirits that hang around for 3 days.  I've sworn off my trying a PB to see if I like it.

Now I have something to consider that I didn't think was needed. Does anyone else do this?

Yes. I think most of us regulars here do. Not the indexes, but everything else in the folder.

I'm guessing that if I copied all my .lbspbb files from the backup of my dead computer, they'd be resurrected (I might need to rebuild index, though).

I imagine rebuild personal book index should be enough. Very much faster.

I read all your post's and all I can say is that it indeed happened the way I described it. I will leave it to Divine Intervention and call it that and leave it alone.

Thanks Bradley for showing up here.....

DMB: I had a very similar experience in the same week of your post. In my case, there were several PBs that's I had deleted several weeks prior. Something had to have changed "behind the scenes" last week.

Maybe some testing is going on on the background. Maybe that is a sign that Logos is making some progress to solve the problem.
