Yet another suggestion to reduce "desktop -clutter"

I think that one of LOGOS' greatest strengths (the MANY resources) can also be a weakness - a challenge to simple, streamlined study. I've sent in a few suggestions about this and have read some ideas by others. Today I had another idea and wanted to set it out for consideration.

The TARGET button on the menu bar of L3 allowed one to "lock down" that TILE and force Logos to open other resources THERE. This feature would work well in L4 and is probably on the way in one form or another. My idea though is to add a side panel to any tile that is "locked as a target window". The side panel would be a HISTORY list - so one could navigate forward and back. It could also be expandable / collapsable like the TOC panel in Bibles and most other Resources. This way, a simple LAYOUT for a particular kind of study can ... remain simple. Maybe the HISTORY list could be saved with your LAYOUT too.

Just thinking out loud.

I really miss this feature. Each week when successively checking commentaries in My PG, I open one floating window with a commentary in it, & click the "Send References Here" button. I feel better, but L4 ignores me as often as not & opens the next commentary anywhere it feels like it. To me, that's a UI bug.

Something like a history panel isn't a bad idea, but there are times I'd want the option to turn it off.

Perhaps I'm missing what you want, but there is already a history panel, you can turn it on under tools.

Bill: I agree, the TARGET button option will be another welcome migration into L4. My idea was to be able to TOGGLE on and off the HISTORY panel [should they elect to adopt it] - so you would be able to function as if it were turned off; but if you suddenly wanted to go back to an earlier resource, you have the option.

The HISTORY panel might be hard to create because it would have to be attached to the TILE window itself and not to the currently visible resource . But this is no doubt a small matter for those who do these things
