I found a copy of Logos Bible Software 2.0. Should I attempt to install this and get the material off of it?
Thanks!
It is unlikely that you will be able to install it unless you are using XP or older, if you call Logos and give them the number of it they can unlock anything you own off the disc. Unless it is an old Catholic disk, in which case the Jerome Biblical commentary would be the item needed off the disc. -dan
Yes! Install on Windows Vista 32 bit or older. Export license file once installed. Send Logos an email with the license file. Once this is completed, Logos can unlock the books so that they are automatically downloaded into L5.

Logos 2 products do not have unlock codes, so Logos customer service will be unable to unlock books until the product is installed. Jerome Bible Commentary resides on the Logos servers, so it is unnecessary to install this book on L5 from disc.
Apologies for my ignorance on the compatibility. When I got my copy of catholic Library Logos had to manually unlock it and at that time in 2009 the libronix file was not on Logos servers (mac Libronix never support LLS files) and Phil Gones generously made a copy of his file available for me to download from his personal server. I had not realized 2.0 was compatible with Vista as long as it is a 32bit version. And I am most happy if the JBC file is now available on the Logos servers. Thank you for clarifying these issues.

Is the 2.0 a catholic package?
I did not read that you said it was[Logos Bible software 2.0]. that was/is an assumption made by another poster - does it say anywhere on the disk that it is?
R4m
Hey I tell ya what, I have voodoo and cyber-cam, can you take a pic with something similar or a digital camera of the face of the disk and post a screenshot --- ? this will rule out any assumptions....
R4m.
It was less an assumption than a "what if", my Disc is clearly labeled Catholic, I had just known that all files were on the sever except the Jerome Biblical Commentary since Logos lost the rights to distribute it (JBC.lbxlls is currently not in the ftp.logos.com/LBXBooks). My concern was IF it was a catholic disc, he would need to locate the file elsewhere. Rest assured if the disc dosen't have the word Catholic on it it is not.
Ill post a picture as soon as I have a chance.
No apologies necessary Dan. Installing Logos 2 products is a confusing endeavor at this point. It does not help that Logos fails to provide clear and accessible documentation for installing L2 products. As I have uncovered a number of L2 products in the past few years, I have learned the proper procedure for installing them so that they are accessible in Logos 5.
Do you have this package? http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_2.0_Level_4 Although this package is not Catholic, it does contain some Catholic works. By the way, this package requires that you install from a 3.5 floppy disc and a CD. For this package, a CD without the floppy disc or a floppy disc without the CD is worthless.

OH!! that pic brings back some memories. I was thinking along the same path but was really wanting to wait till I have seen what he has.....package wise.
Thanks for the stroll down memory lane....
The above picture is what I have... I dont have anything else...
Can I just copy the .lix or .lsf files over to logos 5?
I have some OLLDDDD logos 2 floppy disks... 2 of 3 I think, paid a dollar or something at a garage sale... Hoping to FIND a floppy drive so that I can see whats on them at least.
I also have a CD for the dead sea scrolls library (L3 - and came with the two floppies). Not sure if I have the key or not. But I figured for a dollar, it was worth checking into.
I wonder if scan d:\filelocation\ would find older resources?
No.
Doubtful because scan checks resource(s) with unlocked list.
Install on Windows Vista 32 bit or older. Export license file once installed. Send Logos an email with the license file. Once this is completed, Logos can unlock the books so that they are automatically downloaded into L5.
An alternative is importing license file into Libronix 3, then sync licenses, which also unlocks resources for Logos 5 use. After resource license is associated with Logos account, could use scan command and restart Logos 5.
Keep Smiling [:)]
I did install them to librinix 3. I can't find the unlock codes. Any suggestions?
Jacob, I think KSFJ meant to install then in Logos2, backup the licenses.
Then go over to Libronix and restore the licenses.
Then sync Libronix with your account on the Logos servers.
That would then either cause a download to Logos5 (if you're lucky).
You need to install Logos 2 and export license file. You can send license file to Logos and they will be able to unlock books. This disc is a little different than my Logos 2.0 disc, so I am not sure if it contains the Logos 2 install and your license file. My disc came with a floppy disc that installed Logos 2 and the license file. Also, this product does not have an unlock code as it predates such codes. The only way to get the books unlocked is to install them into Logos 2. From there, they can be imported into Logos 3. If there is not an install file on your disc, you may be lacking an essential floppy disc. My disc would be useless without the floppy disc.
Jason, yes they do look familiar, get a magnifying glass and look real close on both sides around the center ring......if there appears to be a code or a sequence of numbers - call Logos HQ.
Get a techie, you may be able to bypass the floppy, they are old school but you may get lucky....
By the way, thanks for the screenshot.
Brief history
Logos Research Systems, Inc. (also known as Logos Bible Software) was founded in 1992 by two Microsoft employees, Bob Pritchett and Kiernon Reiniger, along with Bob’s father, Dale Pritchett. The three quit their jobs to develop Christian software.[3]
Bob Pritchett and Reiniger produced one of the earliest Bible software packages for Windows: Logos Bible Software for Microsoft Windows v1.0. After acquiring data from the CDWordLibrary project at Dallas Theological Seminary (an earlier Bible software package for use on Windows 2), Logos released the Logos Library System platform in 1995.In 2001 the LLS was replaced by the Libronix Digital Library Systems (or Libronix DLS), which was partially ported to the Apple Mac OS. On November 2, 2009, Logos announced Logos Bible Software 4, for MS Windows and the Apple Mac OX, complemented by a free iPhone application featuring free publications and synchronization with the desktop applications, and was awarded the DBW Publishing Innovation Award in 2011.
On November 6, 2012, Logos announced Logos Bible Software 5 for Windows and Mac was available for purchase.
I think this was that ####

Quick update: The install files are not on the disk and the Logos tech told me that someone that may have LLS (2.0) could upload the .exe file for me.
Anyone willing to do this?
I use dropbox, google drive and box
Did Logos delete all their own files or something? Surely they have a copy of this file.

For the version you have, the back of the CD cover gives the installation instructions as:
The install files for this version (and if I recall correctly also the license file) are on the two "floppy" discs that came with the CD. The CD contains the resource files, but probably a lot more resource files than can be unlocked per the license on the floppy discs.
So a couple of quick questions:
Would need to find someone with an operating floppy drive with still readable floppy discs and a computer with a 32 bit operating system. Can probably re-assemble such a configuration from the basement here to see if my floppies are still readable, but would need to set aside some time to do that so first should check exactly what you need and see if anyone can help more easily.

you might try this....

Version 3 won't help needs to be 2…. but thanks for pointing it out...
Found a short-cut per a USB floppy drive that I thought was lost: have a pair of readable Logos 2 Level 1 floppies that can install the relevent resources from the CD. Level 1 resources are listed at http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_2.0_Level_1 As you can see there were not many resources in a Level 1 base package back then (c 1995) so if you have a more recent Logos package you may already have everything in your current license. There were some Logos 2.0 resources that are no longer available, but there had to be unlocked or purchased seperately.
Just as a note: Libronix (Logos 3) will pick up and incorporate Logos 2 licenses if Logos 2 and 3 are both installed on the same computer (WIn XP or Vista 32 bit or earlier version of WIndows). Logos 3 licenses can be synchronized with the Logos servers and picked up in Logos 4 or 5 via "Update Now" (at least that is how it originally worked when additional resource CDs for Logos 2 were relatively common a few years ago. There are still some around but finding ones where the license has not already been used by someone else is no longer easy. Many later Logos 2 resources came on CD with an unlock code, but it used a different format and unlock system than was later adopted for Logos 3 and they cannot be unlocked directly into Logos 3)
I only have the CD. Im not sure what level this is... May be a lost cause. Thanks for all your help.
Jerome Bible Commentary resides on the Logos servers, so it is unnecessary to install this book on L5 from disc.
How certain are you about this? Aric on the Verbum blog is claiming that the file does not exist on Logos servers, and that a user who threw away his disks because Logos told him he didn't need to keep them, now has no way to get his JBC back.
If Phil Gons cannot help you email me DW[LASTNAME]@aol.com and I will figure something out.. i think i can just zip it and attach it since it;s not a large file.
not a large file.
Compressing it only got it down to 18.1 MB but i still think it is doable.
Hi guys,
I am attempting to install Bible 2.0 on a Win7 laptop for a family member. I am wondering if maybe something like "VirtualBox" would be an option if I were to run WinXP through the VirtualBox application? Most 32-bit programs will run on 64-bit OS but this one just won't despite messing with the compatibility settings. Maybe this software has 16-bit installer? I dunno, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Michael
Peace to you, Michael! Welcome indeed to the Logos Community Forums where Logos Bible Software Users from the 4 corners of the world attempt to help and encourage and inform and assist one another in the use of Logos Bible Software!
First, is this a Logos Product? Is it Logos 2.0? Is that what you mean by Bible 2.0??? If so, it's really, really old; however there are a few people who frequent these forums that may be able to help you ...
From Wiki.Logos.com (http://wiki.logos.com/Contents_of_Discontinued_Base_Packages) comes this link - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhAl790TopkhdHNsTnRLY1A2RU9OY3pDNHdqTHVpQ3c#gid=27
Those links may help you determine whether or not you have a Logos Product!
Another question ... has it ever been registered with Logos? If it has, they will definitely be able to help you out.
You need to be patient as there probably will be a number of people who desire to help you! Blessings!
Edit: I see you already realise that one needs Windows XP in order to make this happen! *smile*
Maybe this software has 16-bit installer?
The program is 16-bit and won't run on a 64-bit OS. Win XP (32-bit) or other 32-bit Windows will support it and using VirtualBox on a 64-bit system is a good idea.
