William Barclay's Daily Study Bible

If Logos gets around to it, it would be cool to see William Barclay's Daily Study Bible series released on Libronix... or maybe I am on the only one who likes this series!?! [:)]

Logos lost the license for this series several years ago. I purchased my set when this was announced.

I wonder if they will ever obtain this license again? Funny how these things work!

A new Barclay edition has been published. So it is rather unlikely that the old edition will ever be available. Logos had the revised Barclay edition.
Westminster John Knox Press now has a Revised Updated edition. For example the Logos Matthew commentary was the revised edition from 1976. The first print edition was published in 1976. The current print edition available from Amazon is the Revised Updated edition published in 2001.

Does anyone know if there is any chance of a licensing agreement between John Knox Press and Logos?

I bought a copy on ebay a few years back, and I make sure to check Barclay for every NT sermon I preach!

The current paper ones are edited by his son I believe. The best feature of these to me is all the supporting info he has gathered, regarding regarding relevant cultural or historic issues.

If you want the Daily study bible (NT) on the computer and don't mind using another program there is an e-Sword module that can be downloaded from here: http://e-sword-users.org/users/node/95
e-Sword is free but I think you need the older version (8 or older) to view the DSB.
If you want this and don’t have the older version of e-Sword post a request for it here http://e-sword-users.org/users/forum and I am sure someone will have it.

You don't need to go looking for the older version of e-Sword since I have it if you are interested. Let me know.

I too would like to see the Barclay commentaries in Logos, but until then I have settled for it in Bible Explorer. I have created a link to in on my toolbar in Logos so it opens up easily.
I can only imagine the price that this could go for on ebay.
Who controls the rights? Maybe we can let them know we would like to see it in Logos again.

I checked the eSword website. The Daily Study Bible module is no longer available for any version of eSword due to "licensing" issues. So if you have it on an old CD take good care of it.

My guess is that they are for the old E-Sword and will not work with v. 9. I would like to be shown wrong for the sake of those who want it, but if you've got a dollar, I've got this sack of doughnut holes that says I'm correct.

For what it is worth, my eSword v. 9 works with Barclay (or maybe I should say that the other way around). However, I would love to figure out how to use Crossover (I recall someone mentioning that it works easily with eSword) so I can install eSword on my MacBook. I have MacSword none of thel eSword modules will work on the Mac, unless you find them converted...

MacSword is not project of E-Sword, but Sword open source project. It is not the same thing. To my knowledge, Barclay works fine on e-sword 9 platform. It is true however it is no longer on the e-sword users web site because of the copyrights matter.

You guys maybe correct in that a version 8 of the WBDSB won't work in version 9 of e-Sword, but it is still available at http://www.esnips.com/doc/1b48df4e-9f6b-45aa-adc6-5f06a4c092dd/Barclay-Daily-Study-Bible
and also at http://www.esnips.com/doc/ecf6f679-3ef5-4c6a-851e-fd6ae0c6e36b/BarclayDSB
Perhaps there are other places, but e-Sword is better than nothing. I also got a copy of the Thompson Chain Reference Dictionary for v.8 of e-Sword a few minutes ago at http://www.esnips.com/doc/3215ca17-77e6-48f8-83a6-0bad083030a5/tcrdic.
I already had it for the Pocket e-Sword v.8.
Since this is a LOGOS forum, I better ask a LOGOS question: why does this reply screen suddenly go very small whether I put a smiley or some other item from the menu here? I'm still using Firefox 2.0.0.20.
thanX!!

There is a conversion tool on the e-sword site you can use to convert most of the files to the version 9 platform. I just did it with Thompson and it worked well.

I just used the eSword conversion utility to make the DSB file run under the latest version of eSword. The utility worked and it installed just fine.

You have posted this on the Logos software forum. You need to post on the e-sword forums to get the information you want.
