And quite the contrary, failing to speak up in such cases (which action can only be performed as a result of judging that a person has crossed YHWH's explict line) brings judgment upon oneself. David, Peace to you! *smile* David, do I hear you correctly??? Even if our neighbour is outside YHWH's will (as you put it!), we never have the right to "tell lies about ourDavid Paul said:Milford Charles Murray said:The Eighth Commandment
You shall not give false testimony against your neighbour.
What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not tell lies about our
neighbour, betray him, slander him, or hurt his reputation, but defend him, speak well of him,
and explain everything in the kindest way.
Actually, as a universal principle that interpretation is not just suspect, it is potentially life-threatening.
If your "neighbor" is in fact clearly outside YHWH's will, you become a partaker in his sin if you merrily paint over his error. Isa. 41:6, 7 Psa. 79:11-12
We are not commanded to forsake judgment, or judging the behavior of others...we are commanded to forsake rendering final judgment.
Saying nice things about a slanderer and a betrayer is to become both. Isa. 5:20
neighbour, betray him, slander him, or hurt his reputation, but .... " But, we must "defend him, speak well of him,
and explain everything in the kindest way." We must be honourable and circumspect in all circumstances. If our neighbour needs judgement, that's another matter, and Holy Scripture speaks to that also.... David, do you have trouble with the English Language? Please re-read Luther's Explanation to the 8th commandment.
Edit: Surely you are NOT saying that we have the right to bear false witness under any circumstances?????

You are myopic, David. Why can't you see (like Moody does) that having Logos Bible software, even without access to Moody resources, is a good thing that will help in the pursuit of a good education. Proof that Moody doesn't believe they are the only ones who publish good stuff.
Me myopic? Hmmm. All I've done in the post you keep harping on is point out an irony--a situation that will be an irony regardless of what you say about it, regardless how many times you take me to task, and regardless of how many posts you leave. Noticing the irony required sight...even insight. On the other hand, berating me seems to be rather pointless, which is often described as being "short-sighted".

Milford, I'm pretty good with the English language. I addressed your (Luther's, I suppose) statement as a whole but bolded the part that I was in particular finding to be potentially troublesome. Indeed, as a universal principle, always putting the best face on every situation is foolhardy and ungodly. I am not--as I think should be obvious and thus your incredulity--suggesting that one should betray or slander a neighbor who is a neighbor. I was not addressing those parts of your comment. What many people don't seem to comprehend is that wolves are not considered neighbors in YHWH's economy.
When the cameras come to interview you about the NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR accused of undeniable, provable child molestation, try cheerily announcing "well, at least he kept his lawn real nice, and always decorated for Halloween and other occasions, and paid his taxes on time!" The backlash would be well and fully earned.
For what it's worth, it is the way in which your "explain everything in the kindest way" mindset plays out in a prophetic sense--particularly with regard to the "strong delusion" and the "man of lawlessness"--that I most have in mind. People will be stepping over each other to say kind and positive things about that man--I promise.

David, it is God who commands His People not to bear false witness against their neighbour! If you have an argument, take it up with him ... not me ... not Luther .... Frankly, I think Luther's Explanation is "right on"!!! *smile* We need to obey God! David, "best face" and "best construction" are two vastly different things!

If Moody does indeed depart from Logos one of the greatest losses will be the AM Bible Courseware. This study-at-home program uses Logos to equip Christians for service in the local church. Logos just recently updated the resources to run under Logos 5. If one is interested in AM Bible Courseware I recommend getting it while you can.
The best deal is the Foundation of Biblical Ministry option (includes all 32 AM courses.) Course Descriptions PDF
(109 KB) $800 is very reasonable "tuition" and can be put on a payment plan.

The other "loss" that no one has mentioned yet is the loss of potential new resources not yet carried by Logos or perhaps not yet even published by Moody. Of course there is nothing we can do about these but it is something to ponder.

I just officially heard back from Moody. When I wrote I didn't think that I would actually hear back from them. Below is the content of their email to me. I would encourage others to write to express your concerns. You never know how it may help.
Thank you for voicing your concerns regarding the removal of Moody titles from Logos Bible Software.
Moody Publishers is aware of this action and your concerns have been forwarded.

I would like to appeal to both Moody Publishers and Logos to try very hard to reach a workable solution. I would much rather have Moody books available at a higher price than not available at all. I can only imagine one scenario that would be absolutely unsolvable; that of Moody requesting Logos to remove other publisher's works from the catalog. Short of that I know an agreement could be reached. I hope they are still working on a solution. [W]

I, too, would prefer higher prices over no books available, and I also have gotten the same email. Even though it is the same email as the rest received, I hope that the people who make the decisions on their side take our emails under advisement. If enough people send enough emails, it might make a difference.

Thanks for the reminder Milford. Interestingly enough I usually use the British spelling of words but there are some words that I don't. e.g. I spell program not programme and patronize not patronise. Don't you find living so close to our good neighbors (oops, neighbours) to the south influences us significantly? I also think that Sesame Street and other such media has changed and is changing our language.
Actually this is a good reminder that language is continually in the process of change. That's why in Bible study we learn the original languages to help us understand what the authors originally meant.
So in conclusion, as I analyze (oops, analyse) the situation I aplogize (oops, apologise) for the flavor (oops, flavour) of my labors (oops, labours) to appropriately communicate. I hope no one is offended at my attempt at humor (oops humour). [:D]

Well-spoken, Bruce! *smile* and ... Much-appreciated! The humour is very welcome this evening as my heart is heavy about the trouble in Boston. Several times this evening, as I've pondered on such evil, my eyes became "misty."
We are certainly still the "church militant" and need to battle for our Lord and for our Faith in this very difficult world!
Soon we will be "The Church Triumphant" because of the Blood and Merit of our Lord and Saviour Jesus!
This Sunday past, one of the hymns that our Pastor chose was one quite familiar, I would think, to most denominations.....
For those of you who may want to ponder ... "Crown Him With Many Crowns"
This one by The Maranatha singers .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWCEFKsZqLY
This one a little more traditional ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdK4lzg8gsU
This one from Cyberhymnal ...
Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne. Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for thee, And hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity.
Crown Him the virgin’s Son, the God incarnate born, Whose arm those crimson trophies won which now His brow adorn; Fruit of the mystic rose, as of that rose the stem; The root whence mercy ever flows, the Babe of Bethlehem.
Crown Him the Son of God, before the worlds began, And ye who tread where He hath trod, crown Him the Son of Man; Who every grief hath known that wrings the human breast, And takes and bears them for His own, that all in Him may rest.
Crown Him the Lord of life, who triumphed over the grave, And rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save. His glories now we sing, who died, and rose on high, Who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.
Crown Him the Lord of peace, whose power a scepter sways From pole to pole, that wars may cease, and all be prayer and praise. His reign shall know no end, and round His piercèd feet Fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet.
Crown Him the Lord of love, behold His hands and side, Those wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified. No angel in the sky can fully bear that sight, But downward bends his burning eye at mysteries so bright.
Crown Him the Lord of Heaven, enthroned in worlds above, Crown Him the King to Whom is given the wondrous name of Love. Crown Him with many crowns, as thrones before Him fall; Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns, for He is King of all.
Crown Him the Lord of lords, who over all doth reign, Who once on earth, the incarnate Word, for ransomed sinners slain, Now lives in realms of light, where saints with angels sing Their songs before Him day and night, their God, Redeemer, King.
Crown Him the Lord of years, the Potentate of time, Creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime. All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou has died for me; Thy praise and glory shall not fail throughout eternity.
Philippians 4: 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand..........

I don't think so. And even if it was, then only for Moody and not for Logos, since I expect most of those who now bought a "last minute" Moody title did so at the expense of other titles (such as not going over once more over the March Madness offers, cancelling some PrePubs shipping soon, etc....)Jacob Hantla said:the funny thing is that you'll have a lot of frustrated people if they do AND if they don't
Hm. Could you imagine the outrage and frustration if all Moody titles went away without announcement (by the way that's nearly 300 here and nearly 700 at Vyrso) and then someone posted that the publisher told Logos weeks in advance that the contract has expired, they don't want to renegotiate and Logos needs to take out the titles immediately should the one last phonecall with Mr BigWhig fail - with the hint "tell your/our customers about stocking up now, since our lawyers are out to enforce this without delay or mercy"?Jacob Hantla said:Glad they aren't gone; hoping they don't.
Same here. I do hope that the contract is renewed and we will see the existing books plus many more from Moody. I won't be frustrated that I bought two or three resources now I otherwise would have deferred into the future (or considered in the future for the first time). This didn't undermine my trust in Logos, but in "Christian publishers".Have joy in the Lord!

I am sorry to hear this. I know that most of their material is lay-oriented, rather than academic, but that is an important segment of Logos' market. I think the MacArthur stuff is perhaps the biggest loss for that market.
I picked up a couple of items I thought I might miss someday if I didn't have them, but Moody's exit from Logos doesn't affect me much.
