If you have Microsoft Word, It can save its own Word files as PDF format, but cannot open a PDF file.
If you pray to St. Google PDF to Word converter you will see several free ones.

Word 2013 can open PDF files and does a very good job of converting them to .docx files. The free ones don't do a good job. There are several threads about them, though:
http://community.logos.com/forums/t/46204.aspx
http://community.logos.com/forums/t/37096.aspx
http://community.logos.com/forums/t/44040.aspx
http://community.logos.com/forums/t/63580.aspx
Now, I wonder how long it's going to take for the spammers to show up with links to junky websites for pdf conversion. (I'm talking about random strangers who have never been participants in these forums who just go googling around looking for forums to hawk their wares on, not Logos users recommending free PDF converters they happen to know about.)

I concur with Rosie. [Y] The only problem I have had with the Word 2013 conversion from PDF was when the original document was in 2 columns and word converted it to one column.

Yep .just download a plugin for MS-word ,then you can save word file to pdf. if you' wanna batch conversion ,you just need to search for a third part software. As for me,I would like to use component of word ducoment conversion . [link redacted]
See, what did I say about the spammers?

I know your question was about free software, but I thought I would throw this one out for anyone who does enough conversion to justify paying for an application for it. I have been using ABBYY FineReader 11 and it does an outstanding job. It also does text recognition, so you can scan in something and convert it as well. I know a lot of programs can do this, but the ABBYY FineReader 11 does it really well. It is probably 99% accurate on recognition. There may be others just as good, but this is the one I know about.

Check with cnet.com in their download area. At least that way you will have many choices to better meet your needs.

Peace Tes! I think there is only ONE version of Word. I think there's a difference in pricing re. packaging of products.
BTW, I really like the way it converts .pdf to .docx! *smile*

Tes, others may correct me in case I am incorrect; however, I repeat !!!! ................
There is only ONE version of Word 2013 ... the one referred to by Rosie ............ Microsoft has different pricing arrangements whereby one might purchase Word 2013, for example Home and Student ....

Hi Milford, yes there is one version, but there are "Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013" and Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013.

Tes… one last try.
Microsoft bundles their office products to different groups of people, with different needs. There is only ONE version of Word 2013, but it comes packaged in different bundles. It doesn't matter which way you purchase it, Word 2013 is Word 2013.

I have called to a computer shop here in Frankfurt ,some one from the shop told me that he doesn't believe that the home and student 2013 can.

Word 2013 is included in all the Office Suites. Going with more expensive suites adds programs like Outlook, Publisher and Access. As has been said by others Word 2013 (with the ability to open and OCR PDFs) is the same in all suites.
Microsoft does offer a 1 month free trial of Office, but I am unsure if it applies in all countries of the world.

Thank you David, for the info. I could not be sure ,wether the Home and Student could convert from PDF to Word document, I would like to hear if there is some one who has tried it.

Peace, Tes! *smile* On this VERY thread there are at least three (3) of us who have tried it and are quite happy with the results.
Please check the posts of this thread ... The three are Rosie and David and myself; and I've heard of others who are happy with the .pdf to Word feature of Word 2013. Have you not tried it?

I think Milford you seem that you have misunderstood me, nobody has given me specific answer up to now, I am asking very specific the only one which I consider to buy is the Home and student ,I want to be sure if this one converts.I am asking specifically ,because the one whom I asked from the computer shop said that he did not believe that it could convert PDF to word document ,his answer has made me to doubt, for this reason I would like to be sure.

Blessings, Tes! I'm just "going to let this go"! I'm signing off from this thread .... Obviously your person from your computer shop and I disagree! He does not believe it could convert ........ I HAVE converted ........... so has Rosie ........ so has David ......
Perhaps to assure yourself you could find some Microsoft Word 2013 advertising on the internet that would reveal all of the features...

He said yes, but when I asked him ,if he has installed it.he said no, this has led me to get specific answer to the forum.

Yes, last year, it was professional.

Tes, I should clarify that you can only convert a PDF using Word 2013 if the PDF has actual selectable text in it. If it's just made up of images (scans) of text, then Word won't convert it. Word does not have built in OCR capabilities.

No, it does not work. I get an error message: "We're sorry, the author of this document has set permissions that don't allow the content to be re-used in other applications."

Maybe I just saved you from unnecessarily spending the money to upgrade to Word 2013. If it weren't for its ability to read PDF files, I wouldn't have upgraded.

I wanted to upgrade it for the sole purpose of converting PDF to Word document, particularly for the PDF which I have forwarded it as a link. I would be very glad, if I could find one even if I have to buy.(I have phonts for it as well).I would like to thank you Rosie as well for sparing me unnecessary spending money.

Tes,
Another option would a product called PDF Converter Professional 8 sold by Nuance online. The thing acts as a print driver in all Microsoft Office products. It also converts PDF files to any other format. The cost is $79.00

It's password protected for a reason.

No product will work on a document that the creators didn't want people to be able to convert to other formats.
The only way to do it would be to manually copy and paste all the text one chunk at a time into a Word document. Labor intensive, but if you want this in a PB badly enough, Tes, you'll be willing to do it.

Thank you all of you ,I think it doesn't work with all of them. My Problem now is with Fire Fox as you can see it .

Tes,
After review of the Password security and contacting the Author, you need to contact them for anything that you do with the document, or want to do with the pdf document. If you endeavor to do anything w/it without their written permission, they have resigned to consider this/and will act upon the same as an infringement.

Tes,
On a more personal note, I notice that you do a lot of asking others for ways to manipulate copyrighted and the like of documents. I am not so much concerned as to where you acquire them but a bit more concerned as to how you want to manipulate them for some sort of personal gain.
In the US this is called an infringement of someone's right, especially if they are security locked or are from a secure source that has allowed public access to view and/or download for personal use, but not by means of manipulation to further propagate, which can be by virtue, and have the same characteristics, and as being defined by, and as being related to, reverse engineering........
just a thought.............
