A Little Help Please

I wonder if I could get somebody who has Vista installed to give me a little help. I need somebody who doesn't feel uneasy about searching through the system folders on his machine. My request isn't dangerous (I'm not going to ask you to alter or hack anything), however some folks don't even feel comfortable about opening their Windows folder in an explorer window.

I'm rebuilding my installers (correcting a big mistake I made a long time ago and am too embarrassed to talk about) and I need to know if the .Net Framework 2.0 is really resident in the Vista load as is suggested on some technical sites I've been using.

That is, I need to know if the following DLL files are installed on your machine.

mfc70u.dll, mfc70.dll, msvcp70.dll, msvcr70.dll

I don't know what the Vista folder heirarchy looks like, but if it hasn't changed then these files should be in your System32 folder.

I couldn't find either mfc70u.dll or mfc70.dll.

I found msvcp70.dll in:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\VS Runtime

If all else fails put one or more characters

LIKE THIS on the line and use white text. It will be there but wont show unless highlighted. Like I just did at the beginning of this line.

Then hit return and keep going.

All of your posts were perfectly legible as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, thanks again. I need to find out what Microsoft has to say about the 2.0 framework on Vista. It sure doesn't look like they have an installer for it.

Or maybe I just need to get somebody to install the app and see what happens.

O.K., I'll bet you can tell I'm very confused. I went through all this about four years ago and I can't remember how I got to where I got to but it looks like I got it right the first time. Those libraries all belong to Visual Studio and won't exist on machines that don't have VS installed unless another app puts them there.

All right, so that's not a problem (whew). Now all I need to figure out is how to deal with .Net Framework on Vista. I don't know if I need to check for it or not. Can somebody with Vista check to see if either of (or both of) the following two keys exist int their registry.
