I would have expected "type:bible" to just show Bibles but it looks as though it includes "Bible Commentaries" as well!

I use "favorites" to accomplish what you might be looking forward. I have multiple categories of favorites (Bibles, Commentaries, Dictionaries, etc.) and then place in those categories the volumes I use most. Functions the same as a "category" and makes easy access to the books I mostly use on my phone and tablet.
