Share Documents Possible

Is it (or will it be) possible to share document files with others.

In the past it was possible to share note, visual filters files with other folks.I also shared other types of files but some of these are no longer possible (e.g. custom tool bars)

With some of these new documents will it be possible to share these files with others.

I do not see how to do this. It appears that these files are held in a data base.

Am I missing something or will this not be a possibility.

    We have been assured that

    1) this will be possible

    2) the db uses XML formats

    3) the feature will be available by the end of the first half of next year.

How cool would it be to be able to share documents with other users if you know their id, sorta like with Google docs.

So I could quickly share a handout, a visual filter, a reading plan or some notes or something with another user (with collaborator or viewer option).

This is coming. You'll be able to share directly over the Internet, most likely by creating/joining a group and then sharing your files with that group.

    Do you want:

    A) One-time sharing: Someone can make a copy of one of your files, which is then their own unique copy they can independently edit and modify.

    B) Read-only sharing: Someone can read your notes, and keeps getting synced updates to them as you modify them, but can't change them.

    C) Shared files: You can share a file, and then you and all the people you share it with can edit, modify, and change it, with changes associated/labeled with who made them.

    ?

I'm guessing people will vote custimizable.        Outside of that I would prefer one time sharing - I would like the ability to add my own thoughts and perhaps edit what other people write'

    yes please  [Y]

I could see some solid applications for teaching where files could be shared (basic notes or outlines) and students could then add/modify with their answers then share back information.  Also some options for collaborate learning make a lot of sense.

    A, B, & C

I'd say model it after Google Docs. That would be all 3 of those, with the ability to both invite specific users or to allow anybody with a link to access it.

Please make B include web publishing / embedding. This would let us include our stuff (especially notes, sentence diagrams, handouts, etc) on blog posts, facebook, emails, etc. Probably good advertising for Logos and simple for us.

I really think simple customizability (focus on the custom more than the simple please) is important on this one. If users are sharing our stuff, we'll want to make sure it is only visible and editable to the people we want.

    Thanks for doing this, Bob!
