Brief Video on building a search based layout

Below is a link to my blog demonstrating how to build a layout for search based studies. Most bible software package are search based. They open with an interface that requires a search. Logos opens to a home page and then is primarily pericope based using the passage guide and exegetical guide. This is great for expository study, but there are times when a search based study is more appropriate. In this example I search for the greek word phileo. I hope this provides some ideas that you can incorporate into your use of Logos 4.

Keep 'em comming! I don't think we could ever have enough LOGOS videos! I hope the Logos team eventually does some more in-depth videos like they had for V3. The 1-2 min videos are too quick!

And one thing that I saw that was cool....the "grid view" thing for johns windows where he sends all of them back in a grid pattern then selects one to come forward...

I'm sure that that was a Mac thing...right?

Yes, I'll add my voice to the chorus. Your videos are excellent! I feel like I'm finally learning Logos for the first time.

I never knew about the "translit" prefix for searching either (or the "g:" or "lemma:" ones either, for that matter; and I see too that "h:" does what you'd think it would, given what "g:" does). Are there others? Are these documented anywhere? I couldn't find them in Help or on the wiki. Does anyone have an exhaustive list and could you document them on wiki.logos.com? What about in the Search Fields List page? At least "lemma" appears in there, though I'm not sure it's where "g" and "h" and "translit" would belong. I guess some of this is documented in the Search HELP page, but it needs some cleaning up, as it's scattered around between points 10, 11 and 12. And "translit" isn't mentioned at all.

Incidentally, John, I noticed that when you typed "translit:phileo" and then selected "translit:phileō" from the dropdown, the search text became "translit: translit:phileō" That seems like a bug to me, don't you think? The first of those "translit"s is redundant. It can be safely removed and the search repeated and the results are the same. I'll report this separately.

Expose is awesome. But in ADDITION, you can build multiple desktops and assign programs to open on specific desktops and then expose works with all the open Windows within that one desktop. It is really quite ingenious and powerful! I am hoping the Mac developers find a way to take advantage of this to assign windows to desktops for study.
