Hi,
Is the different size of book cover icons normal for this panel?
(For some reason I was unable to get a .png file to display correctly.)

I think so, although the one seems a bit odd. Cover art isn't necessarily uniform.

They work perhaps half the time. There was a change in the forums at the beginning of the year… it hasn't been the same since. [:S] FYI - You can just change the extension name to .jpg without any conversion.

I think it's a bug. At least it was the last time I saw something similar: Mac Thumbnails (tiny) in Parallel Rources.

They are uniform on my PC i.e. PC:2S is same size as PC:1S and other icons.

Hey Kevin,
I haven't encountered this before, but it looks like Development is aware of this happening in some cases and they are at work to resolve it in a future update. It may be inter-connected with some other features, so this might take a few updates to roll out. I wasn't given any ETA.

Using Logos 5.1a Release Candidate 1 on OS X 10.8.4 was able to replicate small icon for a New Tab (Commentary) in 2 Samuel:
Found another Pulpit Commentary resource shows a small icon for a New Tab (Commentary).
Wonder if some resources need iconic update ?
