I'm sure you did not mean to do so, but your post goes against the Logos forum guidelines. I will tell you that the greatest advantage of Logos (in my opinion) is the vast library and integration with the L4 desktop app.

My apologies! I kept seeing reference to Olivetree and could not understand how it worked or if there was any interaction with Logos. I do use Logos and love it, and have no plan to change.

OliveTree is a competitor to Logos whose emphasis is on mobile apps. There is no connection between the two companies.

Janis - Perhaps you were curious about Vyrso? Logos has two mobile apps (which share the same code). Vyrso is the new "Trade Book" eStore by Logos, and they have an app by the same name. It is essentially a scaled back version of the Logos mobile app.

To answer your question, both are good, but very different creatures.
Logos is a framework to read some of your books (likely most of them) off the logos cloud. You may download items to the iPad but off-line reading and use will be limited (but it is getting very better, but passage guide will likely always need a connection to function.
The other alternative software you asked about is design specifically for mobile devices, originally the Palm system and then several other systems were added included iOS. It has a fair selection of items, very reasonably priced. It is a very good basic reader that works completely offline. It is more responsive than Logos but it;s simply differently designed. It has a very basic passage guide which i really haven't used much.
My advice would be to download both Logos is free, the other has a free barebones edition too. try both and see which will work best for you. I will say for reliable quick access to the bible and your resources the other is ahead of Logos, but Logos isn't a bad program and it;s basically the difference between a huge book store and a small christian book store.

PS: I should have also mentioned the best thing about Logos, you can use every resource on your computer as well. The other software works only on mobile devices, Logos works on your mobile device (iOS and Android) as well as your windows or Mac computer.

Yes, but not vice-versa. All resources are licensed for the computer, most (but not all, per publishers request) are also licensed for mobile.

I have Logos 4 on my MacBook, iPad, and Android phone. I tried to introduce my wife to Logos and she felt it was ok... but she absolutely loves Olive Tree. She feels Logos isn't as smooth of an interface as OT. I personally have Olive Tree on my iPad and have to say, like it better than Logos and you can't beat the price of OT... free. That the great thing about OT, you can share it with your friends or new Christians that have an iPad, iPhone, android, etc... for free. If you follow OT on Facebook you would get free stuff just like Logos free book of the month. It's not an either/or but both/and for me. Yes Logos is high priced... big negative, so for sure, keep OT in mind to put young new Christians onto. It is here to stay with it's user friendliness and low starter price.

Actually OliveTree has applications for both Windows and Mac Desktop.

Is there a reason you haven't updated to the free L5 engine? As long as you are running OSX 10.6 or newer, you are strongly encouraged to update your software. http://www.logos.com/installation

Try using your new collegeville Bible Commentary or NAB (pre 2011) on your computer…. the NAB 1991 won;t even run on your iPAD, yes these items are rare but they are there… That being said Logos has items that it lost publishing rights to years ago that are not mobile compatible.

Hmm...I can't remember ...do I need to specify what device I will use the book(s) on when I order? I typically use my iPad4, but does that mean I may not be able to use certain book(s)on one or the other devices in the future because the license has expired for it?
