Using Resource on External CD

I'm trying to use our several-year-old CD of The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers which came with Logos 2.1g. I've downloaded and installed v5.1 SR-3 (5.1.0.0979). I have no other Logos experience :-(

I have not been able to figure how to get Logos 5 to access the CD (which is the E:\ drive) -- I find no menu to point Logos to the CD ... which is our only library/resource (sorry I don't know the Logos lingo!).

?how can I get Logos to properly identify the CD for use?

I am on my iPhone and can't look up the answer in the wiki... But here is MY answer. Call Logos customer service. They can unlock it for you.

Logos can recognise the CD drive but it won't recognise resources unless Logos has a licence for them on your account, which is why it is best to contact Logos Support.

Install Libronix 3.0g and then use it to install the CD. I added the RC Sproul collection a few months ago the same way.

Once installed in 3.0g you sync your library and then the books will be made available in Logos 5. I keep a copy of 3.0g on my desktop machine just for that reason...you can often find good deals on Libronix CDs.

Sources and overall selection are indeed more limited, but I don't think they are hard to find. You can readily find them at Christianbook.com and through third-party sellers on Amazon and eBay.

In the past year alone I've purchased nearly a dozen titles including:

Tyndale NT and OT Commentaries

RC Sproul Collection

Biblical Archaeology Society Archive CD (this can be purchased for a very good price directly from BAR)

Erik, do You think a Libronix/L3 Bible Study Library for a friend + for myself (would duplicate much of what I have but would add a couple of mostly small-group books, TNIV, NIV84, and 11 volumes of Wiersbe BE-series OT), two copies, for $60 each would be a good idea?

Unix, if your plan is to only run L3, my only concern for you would be that Logos is not adding any new resources to L3 and at some point in the future the supply of existing Libronix CD-ROMs will completely dry up. The selection for new L3 resources now consists mostly of the Thomas Nelson catalog which, although is very useful for pastors, isn't always of an "academic" nature.

If your plan is to purchase the older copy of L3 and then upgrade to the free L5 engine or a less expensive L5 base package, I do not see a downside to buying a copy of L3 for $60 and then converting it to L5. If I could find a very good price on an L3 package, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it...I've considered doing this for my wife so she can have Logos as well. You will then get a decent L5 package for a much cheaper price than buying L5 Starter or L5 Bronze. I did much the same thing years ago with a copy of Quickverse when I intentionally purchased a much cheaper older version (which also included a resource that wasn't in the newer version) and then upgraded, all for a much lower cost than simply buying the new version.

He originally said in the ad that he had 8 of them, and he is a forum user - I've seen him posting many times. He still had some left the last time I asked on August 11. 2013 (his reply came on Aug. 13. because he was/is on a trip). The ad was on stilltruth but right now that site has problems so all the ads are down, actually TCBlack had to restructure the entire site after an attack, You may remember that it looked different earlier on:If I could find a very good price on an L3 package, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it...I've considered doing this for my wife so she can have Logos as well. Thanks for the welcome AND the advice.

I talked with Adam this morning ... and all is well. Things have changed a lot, yet he worked with me and talked me through hiccups - minor, since he knew his way around - would have been show-stoppers otherwise.

I'm impressed with you guys and Logos!!
