Maybe it's a fluke but this cut my search times down to nothing...

This could be just a fluke but I thought I'd pass it on.
I'm running Win 7 and I was just nosing around and checked a few boxes on the Logos 4 Icon; see below. When i did that...my search times were shaved in half...or even less....
and my search times are very responsive...at least for now...

I can definitely confirm that this speeds up scrolling on Windows Vista.

No difference on Windows 7 running in a Fusion 3 VM

What exactly do those first two checked boxes do?

i tried this but it actually slowed my computer down when I tried laying my cursor over a Hebrew word.

Disable Display Composition disbales Aero features like transparency - this makes sense to the speed issue...
Disable Display scaling has to do with large fonts. Not sure how this would affect L4, but it might.
Run as Admin just raises the privilege level of the program - not sure how this would speed anything up

Interesting.
It made a significant impact on the speed of my search results also.
I'm running Windows 7 in Parallels 5.
Robert is now my new hero.
Of course, my question now is "What's the catch?"

there really isn't any "catch" other than the fact that Aero is disabled until you close Logos 4. having Aero turned off puts less strain on the graphics processing, so in theory it would make L4 faster.
i see a significant difference with it off/on, but it's not enough for me to permanently turn of Aero (or use these settings)... mainly because i like the look/feel of Aero in Win7/Vista [:)]
nonetheless, very nice find!

I wonder if it would affect L4 when running with Program Scaling (under Tools > Program Settings > Accessibility) set to something huge?

Close Logos 4? Who would want to do that? I didn't even know there was a way to do that. [;)]
Seriously, though, I keep Logos 4 running all the time (at least these days while I'm in the midst of using it a lot to get to know it better), so I guess that means having Aero disabled all the time if I want this speed improvement.

I gave it a try - no improvement for me.
BTW Search times on my system are screamer fast - unbelievablely fast and always fast no matter what I test. It's issues like scrolling, typing, and menus that are painful for me.

Mine are very fast too - except for a Bible search. Unbelievably slow.

Yeah, searches on my system are fast too, though I haven't done extensive testing. What's really slow is loading layouts with multiple resources in them, such as the one suggested by John Fidel in this video.

This definitely speeds up L4 on my system and guess what, the scroll function works on my mouse pad. That's the thing I've been missing more than anything else in L4. Thanks for posting.[:D]
