Cloud storage

In this thread by Alabama 2 years ago, he explained how with Dropbox, a cloud storage solution, your PBB files can be used on multiple computers since Logos did not (and still does not) sync them.
The purpose of this thread though is to bring to your attention another cloud based storage solution which can give you 20GB (15GB and 5GB extra if you sign up following this link: Sign up for Copy and get 20 GB free!). I also get 5GB extra for referring you
There are a few good things about Copy such as unlimited file size. But in addition to the above, in what I think is the best feature of all, there's a possible use of this service that can be of potential benefit to all interested Logos users, and that is sharing specific folders for PBs of public domain works such as those uploaded to the Files forum. For example, if each allocates say 3 GB of shared logos PBs by uploading docx files to this shared folder (another will have to upload different files so as not to duplicate) and say there are 30 contributors/sharers, we have the ability to share 90 GB of PBs between us. Apparently there's currently no upper limit to this. This concept is explained in this video.

In my opinion, that would be disastrous. It only takes one person to delete the file... Or to change the file... Furthermore, anytime anyone adds to the shared folder or changes the .docx file, you would constantly be syncing with the server.

Why not a Faithlife group to share PBs, so that the PBs can be shared, updates and security issues are already managed, space is whatever it needs to be, users can allow collaboration or not, comments/discussion will be available to people with questions....etc.? This seems to be a much more comprehensive solution that just sharing a cloud drive!

Excellent points Alabama! I think that the shared files though do not get synced automatically, but manually since they're stored in a separate folder on the server, called "Shared with me" folder and you chose which files you want to sync with your computer copy. But this has to be tested it to verify their claim:

Yes for collaboration and sharing. This beats the cloud drive idea actually. Makes me wonder why a faithlife group hasn't been created for this yet?!Don Awalt said:Why not a Faithlife group to share PBs, so that the PBs can be shared, updates and security issues are already managed, space is whatever it needs to be, users can allow collaboration or not, comments/discussion will be available to people with questions....etc.? Note: faithlife (while great for community sharing) does not help for personal syncing between devices.

Well... I actually just created one to test and it seems we can share docx and image files no problem: https://faithlife.com/pbb-sharing/Sleiman said:Makes me wonder why a faithlife group hasn't been created for this yet?!

Another limitation to faithlife is the limitation to 1 GB only.

for those interested in DropBox

This link will give you (and me) an extra 500mb. It may not be as much space, but its a known and reliable quantity.Ken

I still am very interested to see what solution Logos ends up choosing.

I personally think that PBs are eventually going to be part of the 'Documents' folder on the server where currently your notes, collections, etc... are synced when you use different computers. It's probably just a matter of time.
Until that happens, the next best thing is to utilize one of the currently available cloud folder solutions like dropbox, skydrive, Google drive, or Copy which is now offering the most space and features.

Don,
There actually is a faithlife group that does this. I found it a while back and joined it, but haven't really explored what they have available. It's called the Public Domain Book Club.
