Journal Subscription Using Logos

Similar to how I can subscribe to magazines on Kindle, it would be a good idea to be able to subscribe to Theological Journals using Logos. This would help me have regular reading as opposed to the current practice of having a collection months after publication

I also suggested that here, but for some reason it did not get much traction. It seems to be an obvious move for Logos and the publishers. This is my comment from the other thread:

I think that it would be financially beneficial for both Logos and the publishers if journals and magazines were released same day in Logos as the paper/pdf versions. For instance, members of the Society of Biblical Literature have the option to get the PDF versions of The Review of Biblical Literature, so it would not be that much more to get a Logos release. This way, when the periodical comes out, it automatically downloads via Logos. Biblical Archaeology Review and others could do the same thing.

I like your idea Joseph, the challenge comes in tagging them in time for the release the same day as the pdf. From the time an article is finalized in Word, and converted to pdf is literally seconds.

Logos on the other hand, has to put in footnotes and link to existing resources, a time consuming experience, if there are lots of footnotes.

The subscription model will be a win win for all.

If Logos were able to increase its customer base, (they are trying to do that with Faithlife Bible) then it would be more cost effective to hire more people in the Electronic Text Department, (the people who do the tagging) and we could get the resources faster, in this case Journals.

The down side to that is, they would need to come up with a plan to help us to pay for the books being released so quickly, or throw the idea of Pre-pub out the window.

Yummy. Perhaps a little time for tagging before release. I think that would be valuable. They probably have some idea how much that would require for various journals since they have already published back issues.

DTS is now giving Logos to students for free. Ripe an occasion to pitch for offering Bibliotheca Sacra subscription on Logos Platform.Taggings can probably follow the initial release of the Journals as an update.
