Crash, Hang, Bug... Attention Development and Support Team

I hope I'm doing this right. I've never had to attach logs before, but I'm growing concerned about my Logos 5 Software"s performance (5.1b) (5.1.2.0020). Every time I use the software for longer than an hour or two (like during sermon prep), it gets stuck syncing and the fan on my laptop begins to race.
When I check the activity monitor on my Macbook Air it shows an extremely high CPU percentage and the laptop gets very hot to the touch. When I try to close the software it gets hung up syncing and I have to force quit the application.
I've read through the forums and this seems to be happening to other people. I haven't spoken up before this because I assumed that a fix was coming, but so far nothing.
Now I don't mean to complain because I really do appreciate Logos and their software, but I've invested close to what some people spend on a new car and this shouldn't be happening. Will this damage my new laptop? Is there a fix coming soon? Is there something I can do on my end?
Please let me know as soon as possible. If I don't hear anything over the weekend, I will call Logos directly. I assume they're closed today.
Here are the specifications of my laptop: 2.0GHz Intel Dual-Core i7, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM, with 256 GB Flash Storage.
Thanks for your help.

This is happening with enough Mac users that it needs to be a top priority. Thanks for posting. [Y]

Thank you for your support Alabama. I hope it does get fixed soon. Unfortunately, it just happened again and I had to force quit the software again. I have a sermon to finish and I can't keep the software open long enough to be any help (laptop began to heat up in less than 30 minutes). Like I said, I appreciate Logos and their service to the church but right now I wish I would have invested in paper books. [:(]

I give up. It happened again.
Logos, my software is becoming unusable and right now is of little use in my work. I finally just copied what I wanted to study into a Word document and forced quit the program for the last time today. The Lord will provide but I don't think this is how Bob Pritchett thought his software would be used.
Please fix as soon as possible. I patiently (with the Lord's help) await your response.

One thought, just in case it gets you up and running (if only with one hand tied behind your back). Have you tried simplifying your layout? Perhaps an element is to blame. Can you post a screen shot?

I am sorry you are having difficulties with Logos on your Mac. If this is occurring for you regularly, can you please enable logging to provide more information the next time this occurs. If the high CPU usage occurs again and you have the logging utility, clicking on the "Sample" button will collect information about what the program is doing along with your current logs.

Did you see the logs in my opening post? Did I do it right? I'd be happy to send more logs but I'd like to make sure that I did it right first. I did use the logging utility with my previous posting of the logs. I'm just not sure I used it correctly. Thanks for your help.

I hope your problems get worked out soon. In the meanwhile, remember you can access all of your books at biblia.com. Of course, it can't do anywhere near as much as L5, but if you need to read something, it's there.

Minor problem perhaps, but Logos on my MacBook Pro quit unexp. when I simply opened the computer. At the time had these open: Page, Wallet, Safari and Evernote. I have 16 gigs of RAM. Attached is the log.6036.LogosLogs.davidbergquist.20130930-084313.zip

Thanks Sean,
After not thinking clearly during my frustration, I realized that I had an iPad sitting next to me with the Logos app installed. The Lord did provide. I finished my studies, put the finishing touches on my sermon and had a blessed Sunday morning. God is good.
Now if we could only get these bugs worked out, all would be well in Logos Land. [:D]

I did look at the logs you posted, unfortunately logging was not enabled so there is not a lot of information. On the logging utility, with Logos still running but not responding, click the "Sample" button. This will generate a sample of what Logos is doing and include it in the zip file with the rest of the log files.

Thank you for the response Martin. I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you. My Logos software is still suffering from the same problem. Here are the files created when I took a sample and a new set of logs (still not sure I'm doing it right). I hope this helps and we can get this fixed soon. It seems to happening to more people than just me.

Here's an updated screenshot of what I was working on at the time. I was just reading and taking notes when the fan began to race and I had to force quit the application. In addition to Logos, I had Safari open and was not having any internet problems. The only change from a month ago is that I am now running Mavericks. Thanks again for you help.
