I'm assuming maybe clause search?
How can I search for Bible passages that refer to life and death according to God's plan?

Your search isn't specific enough to use the clause search. For a topic like this, you'd be better using the topic guide, or - even better - the thematic concordances available in Logos (enter type:bible-concordance in your library to see them).
Before you do that, however, you'll need to rephrase the concept you have in mind ("life and death according to God's plan/sovereignty") to something a little more tangible, and then look that new concept up in the concordances. The clearer you can be in formulating your topic, the easier it will be to find a matching topic in the concordances.
That’s not a dummy question! That’s a good question. I assume you are looking for passages like Job 1:21—
21 ...The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD. (Job 1:21)
What I would do is use cross references and explore the chains of thought.
For example, the New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge pointed me to Acts 21:13-14, where Paul was ready to go to Jerusalem even if he died there. The people then said, “The will of the Lord be done.”
Checking the references there got me to Matt. 26:39, where Jesus was in the Garden and prayed, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” (Matthew 26:39)
Anyway, that’s a fascinating question that maybe I’ll have to explore sometime.
