March Madness: Support BLOMBERG...DEFEAT Carson!!!

At present Craig Blomberg is only 4 votes behind D.A. Carson, so it is entirely possible for him to defeat Carson in this first round...and good riddance. Carson won last year and nearly won in years past--his time has come and gone. As a look at this page of Blomberg's Logos titles shows, he is not only a worthy choice over Carson, but IMO I would like to see him win the whole competition this year. But first things first...PLEASE, if you have not voted, choose Blomberg over Carson so we can have a chance to pick up some fresh quality titles this year.

Yes, the page isn't set up properly. I had to click from "max" to "sizable" on the window and then move the window as high as possible in order to make the vote buttons accessible. It needs to be rescaled...but you are correct, adjusting the % scale down will make the buttons visible.

Wow...what a difference a few hours makes! When I went to bed Blomberg was ahead by about 8-10%--now Carson is way ahead. The overseas contingent has really ruined this. I'm pretty sure I won't be getting anything from March Madness this year from the looks of this. Well, at least I can now go ahead and get AYBRL if I want without worrying about how I'm going to fit in MM purchases...'cause I won't have any. No matter how low you set your expectations for people, they always manage to surprise you.

I don't think so. When I saw your post and voted (Blomberg), both were nearly even, now Carson leads - I think it's the massive fan-base in the US that now wakes up and votes. Or a Carson fan wrote a script....

I voted for Carson since there's a few new volumes of his that I don't have and that were not available last year. It seems just now 1pm EST Carson is smoking Blomberg. Too bad they pitted these two against each other, I'd love to have better deals on both. Wright is still a huge favorite so far, hopefully his new works get discounted or his whole collection. Anyway, I may not buy until all deals are revealed and that way I can make better choices when buying.

Our Phoenix Logos Users Group (PLUG) called in my associate pastor to give us some advice at the end of the sale last year. He suggested Carson's "Gagging of God". Based on the title, I would have never chose this book. Based on his suggestion, I bought it and have been reading it in my spare time. It is a great book and if Carson can climb the ladder I hope to be able to gift the book to my son and daughter this year.

BTW: I am also rooting for Beale in order to get hold of his book on the book of Revelation.

LOL I don't think Chelsea meant Carson the person, but "the author" (books) in the competition who has won so many times in a row and should give other "authors" (books) the chance to win so everybody can have deep discounts on other titles and not just Carson's titles.

My Library is telling me Carson is the prefered option, but if he didnt' win maybe the one Blomberg book I don't have will hopefully end up in the discounted titles list. No hard feelings if Blomberg did win...because you'll be a winner ChelseaFC and that's a good thing, for others to get the blessing that is...but still really want Carson to get to the next round I have to admit.

I don't really remember last year's sale or who the winner is... let alone that Carson has won multiple times, what was actually offered for sale or what I purchased or why I may not have purchased what may have been on offer.

What I do know is there is more potential this year for me to pick up more titles of Carson than of Bloomberg hence my vote for Carson.

If he won, I and others could conceivably get his $400 WB collection for $100. But this penny-ante desire to double and triple dip on the same author year after year is rather rudely preventing that from happening.

It really doesn't matter to me that some will talk about the (tyrannical) "will of the majority" and each individual's right to vote as they choose. I'm aware of the dynamics. It doesn't change the fact that it is rather rude and rather stupid to keep pounding the same note year after year after year. Get your Carson, if you must...and then be done with him, please. I bought plenty of Carson last year. I don't need more. There are likewise lots of others who want to "move along" and expand their libraries with this rather unique opportunity.

David you are making a big and I think incorrect assumption that every title by that author is discounted. I too would to would be very happy with a Brueggemann win, and but if that did eventuate I won't expect to get the whole collection for $100. Some of the titles will be discounted - but the whole collection - I'd be very surprised [:O] - and very delighted [:D].

This is why I think my suggestion of not allowing the previous years winner (or better yet top 4 finalists!) from being in the next years tournament is a good one. This would provide some freshness that is much needed!

Without Satan, couldn't He have established His glory and worthiness just the same? Well, could He? Can you answer that in total confidence?? At best you would be making a guess, because our voting AGAINST "what is against YHWH" simply IS a massive and inescapable component of His chosen Providential purpose.

You are correct, David. I don't perceive it that way. I hardly perceive that this voting is really a matter of choosing between "Satan" and "God". Call me naïve, but I think most of these writers probably are on the same team. I think it is more winsome in such a choice to state why you are for a certain author, as opposed to attacking the other. Of course, sometimes negative campaigning works well. Sometimes it backfires.

By the way, I am okay with coming out against Satan.

Looks like Carson is going to win by a long shot. Maybe he'll lose to Packer...but I doubt it. In fact, if you follow the brackets - he looks to be a shoe in for the Elite Eight. I wonder if Logos does this on purpose. [*-)]
