Difference Between Logos and Vyrso?

The huge Crossway book collection in Vyrso format leads to a question:

Specifically, what is the difference between books in the Logos format vs. Vyrso format? I know that Logos books are "tagged" more, but can someone explain in more detail what that means?

Logos books are manually tagged and Vyrso books are automatically tagged. This process of automation is far from perfect because it is based on the format and accuracy that publishers use when creating their books. As a result Vyrso books often have tagging and formatting errors. For instance Bible references are sometimes incorrect or missed. e.g. Matt. 1:1 will be tagged correctly but if you find this referenced in the middle of a sentence like this "verse one of Matthew" or ":1" depending on the context they may or may not be tagged correctly.

The other issue that often arises is sentences without spaces after the period and other things like that.

If you are choosing books that are primarily for reading and you don't mind the occasional reference that may incorrectly linked and must be manually looked up Vyrso is fine. I have many hundreds of Vyrso books that I am satisfied with because I have accepted their limitations and usually got them at a great price or even free.

Vyrso format is a basic e-book from my understanding like a novel.

The point of just getting a group of 100 books without it being a series for me would not be worth it. The Logos format with tagging is much more useful.

One example is I got an Atlas from Vyrso it was very hard to use so I just got a refund, and then got an Atlas from Logos.

None of the Vyrso formatted books have the small window for the hyperlink to enter a bible verse or other text to get to the place in the book that you want to be.

Also most of the books in Logos are at a higher level than the ones Vyrso.

If I had $500.00 to put into my library I rather chose carefully each book than getting a group even if it was discounted.

in the library:

Vyrso books don't have subjects, which may impact dynamic collection rules - workaround: use mytags
Vyrso books are all of type monograph, regardless of content, which impacts e.g. Daily Devotionals and Bible Commentary resources when in Vyrso format - don't know if the Crossway bundle contains such.

- in the resource:

Vyrso books by and large have no tagged references at all (other than bible verses) - this impacts the interoperability of books. However, this of course only strikes if there are referencable references to Logos resources and which (to be honest) is not worse than many somewhat older or third-party-produced Logos resources.
The bible verse references are automatically produced - this works mostly well, but fails in commentary-style resources. One example in the Crossway bundle would be Schaffers book on Romans.
Some few Vyrso resources have not working footnotes (a recent trend, possibly only with some publishers where Crossway so far wasn't been mentioned)

One other big difference is price. This resource was half the current price when it as offered as a Vyrso resource. https://www.logos.com/product/43220/christian-apologetics-past-and-present-a-primary-source-reader-volume-1-to-1500

When Vyrso resources are moved to Logos you get a free upgrade! Often times you will get more credit in dynamic pricing that you spent! This is true on the Logos side as well. I recently purchased the Luther Gold collection, but before I ordered I spent 99 cents for the two books of the month and got $8 knocked off my price!

The moral of the story is some authors or types of books you can pretty well count on going over the "Logos Side of the Force". For example, the Preaching the Word commentary on Judges will be upgrade when Logos updates the Preaching the Word series.

One reason I raise the question is that I purchased Craig Blomberg's NT survey book "From Pentecost to Patmos" in the Vyrso format a while back when it was on sale. Unfortunately, it's not available in the Logos format. One difference I noticed for this Vyrso publication is that it has chapter markers, but not page numbers.

I debated whether or not to sell my printed copy. In the end, I decided to sell it and live with the electronic version, even though its capabilities are more limited.

You can get the official brief explanation by showing the library information panel and hovering over the question mark next to the book's edition:

Vyrso books:

Are converted from ePub files, without human intervention.
Bible verses and the table of contents will normally be tagged, but there's unlikely to be any other tagging (so no links to any other resources/references).
Some of the Bible verses will get missed, and a few will be wrong (because the machine that does it isn't as accurate as a human).
It's very unlikely there will be page numbers. There certainly won't be any other datatypes (such as English headwords in a dictionary, for example).
Older Vyrso books have quite tight line spacing that can't be altered.
Footnotes probably won't be linked.

On the plus side:

You can search, read and print these books just like any other Logos resource.
It's still better than a Kindle book (apart from the footnotes, anyway)

I agree that it's better than Kindle because Vyrso integrates into Logos
