Am I unique in finding the help option in Logos 5 difficult to use?

For example. I click "?", then enter "delete duplicate resources". I get "Highlighting" and "Reading Plan Options". Not very useful! I find the best approach is to ask Google my query, starting with "Logos Bible", but often answers refer to older Logos versions.

I do not like to trouble Logos itself with too many trivial queries, so is this forum the best approach? I find for general learning the online videos helpful, but they are not great for answering specific queries. Also I find the Wiki posts long-winded at times.

Please let me know what others find the best way to get help and learn to use Logos efficiently.

I have limited time and would prefer to use it studying the Bible, not Logos features.

There are some training videos around that are very helpful but I would plug in to John Fallahee at http://www.learnlogos.com.

Hello Noel,

Try typing "How do I remove a book from my Library?" into the help function you noted earlier. Sometimes you have to browse the questions to find one similar to your own.

Many thanks for your immediate reply to me. I appreciate it. I am sorry for not being clearer. When I wrote 'click "?", then enter "delete duplicate resources"' I meant I did the following:

Open Logos 5.
At the top right, beside “Layouts” I click the question mark in a circle.
In the drop down menu I select “Logos BS Help”.
In the box “Get Help In” I type “delete duplicate resources”.
I hit “enter”.
The I get “Highlighting” and “Reading Plan Options”.
The response was slow, but eventually the above appeared.

The problem I was concerned with was getting help to remove duplicate resources in my Library. There are two issues, 1, to get help and 2, to remove duplicates.

Years ago when I started using Logos I looked at videos etc, but recently I have restricted myself to one Layout and a standard approach. I now want to deepen my knowledge of the capabilities of Logos 5.

I did what you suggest and I got detailed information. But I am concerned. The answer seems to be if a query does not get a suitable answer, rephrase the query.

I feel much more confidence now. The principal answers for me seem to be rephrase a query if the original one fails, and spend more time learning basics.

The videos mentioned in other responses to your initial post are an excellent way to gain expertise in using Logos. There are also many helpful Logos users in these forums who are ready to assist you. For some questions, you may get a definitive answer. For others—such as this one—you may get a link to helpful information.

The series of links at the top of this page includes one to the Logos Wiki where you will find many helpful articles.

I see from your profile that you are interested in Paul. I recently performed an entire library search using <Paul NEAR "new perspective"> as a search token. In my library that provided over 70 articles on an ongoing debate on how to interpret Paul. So learning ways to search your library can be quite fruitful.

BTW: There is a Logos 5 forum specific to the desktop which might be more appropriate for this particular question.

Unfortunately, the built in forum search capability is exceedingly poor. Your best bet for meaningful results is to use

[quote]site:community.logos.com

followed by your search string. I have installed this on my browser's toolbar (Mac using Safari). Don't remember how I installed it, but Alabama or KS4J provided the initial instruction.
