Researching the context of words etc

There are instances where one would like if certain words and/or verbs are being used in the same paragraph or with a proximity of 5 to 10 verses, and not just with in same sentence.

The search operator NEAR allows for a 8-10 word proximity, and does not seem to work in the clause search.

For example, I would like to see all the passages where the verb "to follow" (akolotein) is used in relation to "disciple(s)" (mathetes), and not only where they are mentioned in the same sentence.

So can anybody tell how to do this in a easy way ? Thanks!

Within a Clause Search try verb-lemma:ἀκολουθέω AND (person:Disciples OR person:Andrew). Also try verb-lemma:ἀκολουθέω AND (person:Peter OR person:John (son of Zebedee)) because the search is restricted to one OR. This has the advantage of identifying the referent of pronouns.

Otherwise the Basic Search <lemma = lbs/el/ἀκολουθέω> WITHIN 17 WORDS <lemma = lbs/el/μαθητής>, where results can cross verse boundaries, is restricted to finding "disciples". But it is a check for the Clause Search

See the Search wiki for an explanation of this syntax. If used in a Bible search the results are restricted to one verse, whereas Basic Search results can cross verse boundaries. The proximity/separation is arbitrary but a value greater than 20 gets results that are not related.

Within a Clause Search

Proximity is not an issue here as the two words will be found in the same clause. The other advantage is that pronouns and verbs are tagged with their referents, but the unfortunate thing is that person:Disciples is not as inclusive as I would like.
