Personal Books

I own a few books that Logos doesn't sell, and a few that they do. If I transfer them in to my library to what degree will they be searchable in Logos compared to the material Logos sells? As an example, I own an ebook I purchased from CDB that logos doesn't sell. If I were to scroll over a scripture reference in this ebook would it bring up the same data as a book from Logos? Also, is it permissable to transfer in a book that they sell that was not purchased from them, like an ebook from kindle? Thank you everyone.

Welcome to the Logos forums. Only books in Logos format and tagged by Logos or books built by users within the Logos system are usable within Logos. It is possible to convert from other formats into the .docx format used by Logos; Bible references are automatically converted to links when a personal book is created.

To add just a little to MJ's answer:

Logos doesn't have an "import" feature for other eBook formats... you can't import those books you have in the format they are currently in. Logos DOES have a "personal book builder" tool which allows you to import Microsoft Word documents (in the .docx format). These "personal books" can have many of the features of a "Logos" edition resource... but you might have to put more work into it that it is worth.

If you really only need the ability to search and have scripture references hyperlinked, the personal book builder tool is ideal.
If you want to make sure the formatting is perfect, you might have to spend some time playing with the source (.docx) document. For example: The TOC is built by having the proper "headings." You might have to go through the document changing those to make sure the TOC will see chapters, sections and parts correctly.
If you want some of the more advanced tagging for a reference work... you might want to forget about it.

Logos doesn't put restrictions on what you can import... but it has to be in a .docx format. Kindle, on the other hand, might not like you trying to convert their resources.

Logos resources have additional tagging that can be searched: e.g. morphology, Louw-Nida, lemma, root, Strong's Numbers ...
