Because I find the "Library" feature in Logos to be almost unusable

It is the most unintuitive feature to me. And I would think that in a program where people are managing thousands of eBooks, that the Library feature should be very intuitive and simple.

For example, if I want to see how many volumes of the Interpretation Commentary I have, I should be able to be able to type "Interpretation Commentary", and it would show the volumes of that commentary - about 43 volumes I think. Instead I get about 340 volumes listed. What chaos is that?

Are they trying to make a preacher cuss?

Try using title:"interpretation commentary" as a filter instead.

Did you put quotes around it? "Interpretation Commentary" Otherwise the words don't have to be found together.

Also the library looks for the filter words ANYWHERE in the resources' metadata, including the description.

To match only the series name, use:

series:interpretation

series:"Interpretation Commentary"

Another easy way to filter by series is to use the collections filter next to the text box:

Collections, series and tag groups can be found in this tool.

I don't have the Interpretation series, so I selected the New International Greek Testament Commentary as an example:

To go back to All Resources, clear the Find field (in the pop-up menu) by tapping the "x", and then select "All Resources":

I believe they are... If I type Interpretation John Knox I get it down to 47 if I add press it drops it to 14???? I use to be able to type Interoperation JKP but this no longer works. I am sure these bugs will get worked out but for me 6 fails on so many levels. I still have yet to get it fully installed, Logos well may be right that Yosemite is to blame for downloading issues but as it stands the only program I am having internet downloading issues with is Logos 6 (Verbum 6).

whatever you may see working or not at your Mac I can't comment on (but regarding the Yosemite download bug I have seen an external site linked with exlanation and tips which reads to this PC user as if Apple f**'d this up, not Logos):

The system behavior discussed in this thread has not changed from L5 (maybe even L4) to L6 and is not a bug. The system is working as intended and several posters have shown Michael how to use the library search / filter in order to get his desired results.

The wiki page https://wiki.logos.com/Library__#Using_the_Find_box_to_filter_your_resource_list_in_the_Library_window will give more details to some of this.

I read your post and thought...o no, do not cuss. I see this as just one more example of basic functionality Logos seems to care little about or for.

Too busy with data sets and original language items rather than functionality like regular people like you and I use in a Bible Study or on Sunday mornings imho.

I use the library feature a lot but I also find that it could be better designed. The big problem I have is not being able to see all the columns at once, even if I put it in a floating window, which I now have to do a lot since I am being forced to used tags such as 'last updated'...

I do believe Logos...but at the same time the only program having any issues for me is Logos. Apple has messed up for certain, but I have no doubt the update correcting the bugs will be out sooner than later.

You do not have to tag any resources to see 'last updated'. That is a column option in the library

I don't understand what you mean then. What is it you have a problem with regarding Last Updated? I've moved the Last Updated column to near the left side in my library (similar to Fredc's). It's easy to access.

It is simply for me another step that slows what I do. The columns in the library are wide and I cannot see them all, even in a floating window on my machine. I have to rearrange the columns or look for the last updated column and then click a button and then scroll to the left or right to find the titles since I cannot see the entire chart on my screen. Then I need to search through the list of updated books to find the new books, which I have decided is not ideal. So I have now decided to resort to looking at my emails which come when a new book is ready to be downloaded, find the title, search for it in the library, and then do what I want to do,whether that is tagging it, or bookmarking it, or looking at it, or reading it.

My last updated column stays where I put it so I don't have to move it but once, and the library stays sorted in Last Updated order (unless I change it). My latest books are always at the top of the list. Does it not work that way for you? Is your screen especially small? I can see the necessary fields at once on my screen.

I agree about not being able to see everything at once, but I'm not sure there's a good solution for that since there is so much data. Perhaps they should put it all in the info pane too.

You can sort the entire library by last updated in either descending or ascending order. Everything updated yesterday will be grouped together regardless of title

I open the library and type in "hermeneia" (no quotes) and all of my hermeneia vols show up (60). I'd try "Interpretation Commentary", but I don't have that.

But today, I had to rearrange them because I needed to see what items were new or updated in the past few days. But I dont like the new arrangement. It does not work for me. I cannot see all the columns on my screen all at once. So I have to play around with the columns and I find it cumbersome. I am sure it is not for you. Like the OP, I must be a total idiot as well. This is perhaps why we are consumers and not developers. I would suggest there is a solution. But the logos team needs to figure out what the best solution would be. Brainstorming takes place. Ideas float around and finally, a solution is found.

And? "Hermeneia" is unique. Neither "Interpretation" nor "commentary" are, which is why a search for "hermeneia" (no quotes) is successful while "interpretation commentary" (no quotes) isnt.

Oh but there WAS a way to find out your new resources by checking the homepage which ALWAYS told you not only what resources were updated, but also what was just ADDED to your library.

There was no such feature. The two were just as mixed together as they are now. This is L5:

Yes, if I recall correctly, my homepage used to make a distinction of newly added resources and updated resources. If I purchased new resources my homepage would say something along the line of "New Resources Added" and list them. I never bought resources and updated at the exact same time though.

I've always used the rating to detect resources. I default all my new resources to 2 stars when they come in. Then when I get an update, I can search for rating:0 resources to find the new ones since they have not been rated yet.

I've done this because there has not been another way to tell the difference between new and updated resources.

When I search my library I just don't expect anything. That way anything I do get is always gravy. Actually, I just don't have much trouble finding things in the library. It usually just sort of pops out at me. But I do tag things pretty well.
