L6 hans on my mac, I see the spinning wheel with everythingthing I try to do

When I first installed L6 it was blazing fast on my macbook pro, which has a Samsung evo 850 pro ssd with 8gb memory. The windows would transition smoothly and very fast, but with the latest update it seems to be very slow and I see the spinning wheel with anything I try to do, even just doing something simple like reading and scrolling down the page. It is frustrating because I also have L6 installed on my desktop at work and it doesn't hang at all, in fact it's quite responsive. Any thoughts or ideas?

I will take a look at your logs in a few... Don't know if I will find anything of interest (I am only part techie, the other part is klingon).

Have you tried restarting your computer?

It doesn't appear that you had logging enabled. Please use the "Mac Logs" link in my signature line to get instructions on logging.

I thought I had followed the instructions the first time. Here is my second go at it. It opened to the home screen, I ran a passage guide on Jn3.16 and the wheel spun for about 10 plus seconds. I went back to the home screen and I had the same spinning wheel and delay. I then ran another passage guide and the same thing happened.

Unfortunately, you still don't have the right log files. BEFORE you start Logos, make sure the logging utility says "enabled." As long as you don't change to "disabled," it should remain that way. Is this what you did?

Yes that is what I did. I'll restart the computer and open the utility first and try it again. I noticed in activity monitor that LogosCEF is colored red and not responding. Does that have anything to do with it? I'll try to run the log again in a few hours. Thank you!!!

The problem now is that L6 won't even open up. It gets as far as trying to sign in when the app quits. Now I can't even get L6 to open, even if I disable the utility. This is very strange. Any thoughts?

Any idea on the LogosCEF issue I mentioned earlier?

I have tried it several times now. Each time I restart the computer, open the utility and then enable it before opening L6, if I do it in that order L6 won't open. I have to restart the computer before L6 will open again. Even shutting down the utility won't allow me to open L6 without restarting. Beside trashing it and reinstalling everything, i don't know what else to do.

Logos needs to be closed to change settings. That warning appears when Logos is open. You can change the setting while Logos is open, but it won't "stick" until it restarts.

When you restarted your computer, did you have the box checked that says "reopen windows when logging back in"?

The utility should have no bearing on Logos opening or not.

I honestly don't know what that is. Do you see the indexer going on up above? If so, what does it say? If you don't see the indexer, kill that process.

When I initially open the utility the warning box, "you need to restart L6 for changes to take effect" isn't visible. It only appears after I open L6. Regardless how many times I restart L6 the utility still shows the warning. It goes off when L6 is closed and back on when I open L6.

When I restart my computer the check box "reopen windows..." isn't checked.

I haven't had the problem with L6 not opening until I started using the utility.

There is no indexing going on.

Yes. That is the expected and desired behavior. You can't make changes to the current logging status (enabled or disabled) while the app is running. You can make changes, but they won't be effective until after the app starts again. The best practice is to turn logging on or off only while the app isnt running.

I haven't had the problem with L6 not opening until I started using the utility.

Probably just coincidence.

I think Logos will need to chime in. If you don't get any help by sometime monday, I would call customer service if you can.

The next time the application quits unexpectedly after signing in, please collect logs so we can try to track down the issue.

This is a problem with the Chromium Embedded Framework (and Google Chrome also) on Yosemite. Even though the process is reported as "not responding", it is actually still working, there are just some OS level events that it is not responding to that cause it to be reported as "not responding". This has supposedly been fixed in recent versions of Chrome, but we will have to wait until Chromium Embedded Framework is updated to get the fix.
