NICNT Gordon Fee The First Epistle to the Corinthians, Second Edition
Dear All,
Right now the second edition of Gordon Fee's excellent commentary on The First Epistle to the Corinthians is at prepub (https://www.logos.com/product/47553/the-new-international-commentary-on-the-new-testament-the-first-epistle-to-the-corinthians-revised-edition)
I'm looking for the differences between the first and second edition. I saw already the text at eerdmans.com
Fee's revised edition is based on the improved, updated (2011) edition of the NIV, and it takes into account the considerable scholarship on 1 Corinthians over the past twenty-five years. Fee has also eliminated "chapter and verse" language — totally foreign to Paul's first-century letter — relegating the necessary numbers for "finding things" to parentheses.
What do you think: Is this edition worth the money ($39.00) for those already have the first edition?

Here is one advantage:

I think I just got my ancient 1987 version last March. Maybe. I haven't yet found an example of "chapter and verse" language. Must be there. I wonder if it matters with Logos tagging?
(d) This is now the fourth appeal of this kind in the letter (see 4:17; 7:17; 11:16); in each of the other instances this appeal concludes its sentence, and in two cases (4:17; 11:16 it functions as an addendum just as it does here. (e) Finally, and most importantly, this concern that they be like the other churches is more fitting at the conclusion of the major concern of this argument, as in chaps. 1–4 and 11:2–16, than with something that if authentic is an aside at best.
Is that (the stuff I bolded) the kind of chapter and verse language Fee changed? Logos has it all well tagged.
Latest 25 years of scholarship though? Now we're talking! But, like...what?

I thought at one time it was in Logos- but its not I have had the paper version for decades now- refer to it often- have read Fee- still appreciate the old version, as I do in many of the other original NICNT volumes.
