SSD: Black Friday / Cyber Monday Edition

I thought I would create this thread to help those of us looking to pick up a deal over the holiday. There was another thread created by someone but I seem to have misplaced it.
I am looking to pick up a ~500 GB SSD for a Mac Mini.
The current leader for me is the Crucial MX100, currently $189.99 on Amazon. That is the historic low. I am not sure how long the deal will last and I am wondering if waiting till friday / monday will be worth my while. Thoughts? Any other suggestions?

I picked up Samsung 840 EVO 500gb last night, which is a better deal and a faster SSD for $200 + no tax + free shipping + Free FarCry 4 game (which you can sell for $40)
That Crucial SSD only has 900 reviews, this Samsung has 5000 reviews on Amazon.

Probably because the EVO has been around for a lot longer!

A bit lower price per GB is a 1 TB SSD at $ 359.99 => http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147251

Too rich for my blood... [:s]
I just picked up the new/old mac mini and need to upgrade the HD & Ram. The bad thing is that the Ram USED to be about $80, but it is now about $140.

Any way of knowing how long this deal will last? Any reason to buy from Newegg vs. Amazon? (I know that Amazon now collects tax in my state).

$ 58.99 * 2 = $117.98 => http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231704
Set of 2 SO-Dimms is a bit more => http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231705 with review noting RAM works in MBP 2012 while other reviews mention CAS latency 11 is needed
480 GB SSD is $ 179.99 => http://www.macmall.com/p/Edge-Memory-Portable/Removable-Drives/product~dpno~8818903~pdp.giefegh

I got the MX100 (256 GB), upgrading from an Intel 530.
This thing is a beast but at 512GB and above, it should be even faster, breaking the 500 barrier.

I purchased the 500gb Samsung for $189. Does anyone know the return policy? Curious just in case I find a better deal.

Assuming you bought from amazon they have a very easy return policy. Request a return and print a UPS shipping label online (there is a button next the item on your "my orders" page). There will also be a label that you need to print and put inside the box. No "restocking fee". I've returned a few items including an MSATA ssd with no problems. I have prime and they paid return shipping and returned the funds to my credit card within a day or two of shipping. I've used the 500gb samsung drive in a late 2011 macbook with no problems and i think you'll be happy with the way logos performs on this drive [:)]. I did try a Crucial drive in that computer but returned it due to stalling problems (The drive would stop for about 20 seconds at a time periodically).

For Mac users, watch carefully. Yosemite won't handle TRIM SSDs from my understanding--Apple is dropping support. .SSDs from OWC should be fine.

i have no idea what that means. Will the drive I just bought work?

Basically Apple has decided to drop support for a standard way (TRIM) for the OS and the SSD to communicate about which areas of the disk are unused and thereby, where to write new data too.
TRIM is now only supported on Apple-branded SSDs. Essentially, they do not want you to upgrade your own SSDs.
Supposedly, some manufacturers have found a way to spoof themselves as Apple branded SSDs.
Now, it is my understanding that the drives should still work but they wont be as fast as they should be. Can someone verify?

One recommendation in case of any issue, the folks who like building Hackintosh Mac clones are probably already able to tell you how to deal with setting up a PC drive for use on a Mac.They've been doing it all along and this is probably a small bump in the road.
