Doing a bit of research on forums I found that some insert images in PBBs. I do not find this a suitable solution, unless I misunderstand how it is used. As I understand it, a personal book has to be recompiled whenever new material is added to it, which is a multiple steps procedure. Moreover, one would then have to use links to specific images in the corresponding notes.
So far, the approach that I find the best is to use a third-party solution that allows 1) rapid insertion and labeling of images and 2) easy generation of a link that can be used externally to that software. The link is then put in the Logos note.
For instance, I copy a table I want to keep (legally) into an Evernote note. Very easily done (more easily I think that dealing with PBBs). Then I right click on it, copy link, then put the link in my note in Logos. Done. Even if I close Evernote, clicking the link in my note in Logos will invoke it. And if it is not installed, it will invoke the web reader (provided there is an internet connection).
Or have you found a better way yet?
