I was rating several books in Library with a Collections pane also visible. Afterward I noticed that none of the un-rated books in the collection had been updated.

I can't reproduce this in 6.1 Beta 2 (0005). If you're running the beta, could you verify that? (I see that this is in the L6 forum, but it appears to be working correctly in the Beta)
It appears to be fixed in Beta 2!
