It's 2015 - Still No Option to Hold Resources on a Separate Drive for Mac?
Hello Friends:
I finally updated to V6 and so far am pleased with the new looks and added features.
However, downloading/indexing resources has put my paltry MacBook Air 10.10.1 to the limit with nearly 6GB of data remaining at only 20% indexing complete. There is no way I can keep the resources on my MBA hence I am looking for a solution to hold my resources on my lovely 2TB HD. I've poured through the forums searching for viable solutions to no avail.
1) Why does Logos insist on not allowing Mac users to install application/resources to an external or secondary drive ... when I believe that is no problem for Windows? Is it just not possible? Nothing is impossible...
2) Why are all the solutions such heavy workarounds that you have to tinker with the Terminal, do some heavy lifting etc ... at your own risk to "maybe" get it to work?
3) This is 2015. When you're shelling out several thousands of dollars, or even one dollar, the product should just work allowing for user customization and be as seamless as possible, not giving users buyers' remorse. Keep it simple...
Are there any other workarounds to this issue? I start class on Monday and want to have this settled once and for all so I can use Logos happily.

I've asked the same question three times over the course of a couple of years. I have never received any response other than users answering in the way you described.
Never a response from a technical representative. Don't know why that is, it is just what it is I guess.

Personally drag Application from disk image to my user's Documents or external disk partition. Also use symbolic links to relocate application folders to a fast partition on external hard drive.

Using external storage has risks: needs to be connected to Mac and volume needs name to remain the same

Faithlife Corporation choice for simple on OS X is one user folder per application. OS X symbolic links can be used to relocate user's Logos, Verbum, and Noet folder where desired. Drag and drop installation on OS X is different than Windows setup, which has custom option to specify location for application use.

Another work around is selling MacBook Air so can buy another Mac with more storage (and possibly retina display).

Thx for the first link. I had the second one but looking at both concurrently helped me - I think - resolve the issue. How do you know for certain Logos is pulling the resources from the new symlink? I think it's working...*fingers crossed*
I'm waiting for Apple to release the 12" MBA hopefully coming this spring. I have an iMac at home for heavy use but need this MBA for class.

There should be a preferences option that specifies where you want things to be.
Just like in photoshop to name one example.

Many folders and files show date modified when Logos opens so can look within Data/<random> folder for date modifications in symlinked location.

Article about relocating iPhoto library => http://appleinsider.com/articles/15/01/25/how-to-safely-move-your-macs-iphoto-library-onto-an-external-drive shows iPhoto was designed for switching libraries. In contrast, Faithlife Corporation designed OS X applications with one user library per application.

We do not recommend installing the program (or indexing) on external drives or SD cards.
