Deleted Logos Resource Files without Backup...

To all you intelligent people on this forum, I would like to humbly ask you a question...

I am a MAC user and have been using Logos for a number of years, especially when Logos 4 came out with they beautiful MAC package that worked as well as the PC version. I subsequently upgraded to 5, and now to version 6, all the way to Portfolio. Most recently I have noticed that when updates occur, the software would attempt to download several times and would never install and eventually time out. I have been synced with the tech support people for hours and have not been able to resolve the problem.

So...and here's the humbling part...I deleted everything related to Logos, even the Logos4 resource file and thought I would start with a clean install. Well, as you probably have figured out, when I downloaded the installer for Logos 6 and ran it, nothing happens...I guess I shouldn't have deleted the Logos4 folder...do I have any hope of ever getting back my Logos program or should I go back to Accordance? Sad

You should be able to remove Logos entirely from your system, reinstall it and get all of your resources downloaded

What do you mean when you say you run the installer and nothing happens?

Is it that the software is installed and you don't see any resources? Or something else?

Hey Brother, what I meant is that I downloaded the installer, opened it, and literally nothing happens...it's running in the background and nothing happens. No login, no downloading resources, nothing. In fact, I have to force it to close.

I'm not a Mac user - hopefully those who are will be able to advise further - but https://www.logos.com/install suggests that what should happen is:

Open the “LogosMac.dmg” file downloaded in Step 1 to begin the installation.

A new window will open. Drag the Logos icon to the Applications folder to install.
Open your Applications folder and double-click the Logos icon to begin using Logos Bible Software 6.
You will receive a one-time security prompt from OS X. Choose “Open” to continue.

What OS are you running? Have you tried restarting your computer? Where did you get the link for the L6 software engine (don't post a link here since it isn't currently publicly available, just give us a general idea).

May I suggest a couple of things.

Check that you are running the latest version of Mac OS X.

I don't know where you got your link to download the installer for Logos 6 but if you didn't get it from your order page (even if you did) you should go there and download the dmg file for a new installation.

Restart the computer before running the dmg packet.

Run the packet and go through the installation process.

Check Lauch Pad to see if the program has installed.

If not - I guess that Customer Service will be your next port of call.

Yes, I am running the latest OS X for MAC, and yes, I did get my installer from my orders page...I do not see the choice for a new installation however, though I've looked everywhere on the page...all I am given is a link to the most recent installer which I've downloaded and installed over and over again, each time with a system reset.

Also, the reason I am appealing to this forum is because I have been online, linked up with tech support and they can't resolve the issue...

I am afraid that I am not being much help other than to say that the engine, when downloaded does not update the program but replaces it with a fresh installation. It should not matter if the old program is there or not.

It is a long shot but you might like to post some screen shots of what is(n't) happening at the end of the process?

Also you might like to check that your installation looks like this in finder.

After which you could click on the logging folder.

If there is anything inside bring up the context menu (two finger or right click) and compress it.

Attach the resulting file to a post in this thread using the paperclip in the tool bar.

Again, thanks Mike, the problem I have is that I deleted the Logos4 folder from the Library-->Application Support folder, and there is nothing but the logos 6 installation engine...how do I get the folder (Logos4) folder back?

The installer (if running properly) will create all folders it needs. It may well be that the folder is not called Logos4 but simply Logos (or Logos6) when doing a fresh install - and it may be hidden/invisible. Maybe the Mac-savy users can tell you more - or call customer service.

Hey Mike, thanks for the hidden file idea...it exposed a hidden logos4 folder that was empty, so I deleted it and ran the installer again and bingo, I am now downloading my resources! Thanks again for bearing with me in this...

Thank you - I am so glad that things are working out at last - now nose to the grindstone - shoulder to the wheel.

(never worked out how they think you will get anything done in that position!)
