What happens when you click an item in the list on the left? On my system, it selects the passage list and enables the actions under step 2.

Absolutely nothing happens even when tried on other initial lists or selected list. Nothing happening is the bug I was reporting.
Does typing one character into the "Find" box automatically select the first matching item in the list? Do the up and down keys work to select others?
Sorry - video capture isn't feasible at the moment but:
The arrow keys move me up and down the list but the enter key has no effect. The remainder of the app appears to be working fine.

After selecting a list (step 1), you have to click "a way to merge them" under step 2. Does that work for you?
I can't do Step 1 so I can't test step 2.
Can you do step 1 using the keyboard instead of the mouse? Your screenshots appeared to indicate that that was working.
I can type it in but it appears to be inconsistent as to whether or not it is accepted. When it is accepted, I can go on to step 2.. If step 2 is possible it appears to function correctly.
Are you able to record a screencast yet? I'm unable to reproduce the problem by following the steps you report.
I'll check ... for some reason the last update of Jing made it look for a server which is a simple setting.
It isn't as bad as I thought - although the selected file's name doesn't appear in the select box, if I wait long enough the first time ... or quickly thereafter I can move on to step 2.
