I have removed this file from DropBox, since the Logos resource, Gill's Works, has now shipped. (I should have removed it earlier, but didn't think about it until I saw the real thing hit my library.)This is unnecessary. Faithlife requests that you not attach files to the forum if it is sold as a Logos product. Gill's work is in the public domain and should get wide distribution. Hosting a public domain resource on a non-Faithlife server is good for the church.

Whether or not a title is public domain has nothing to do with Logos' request that we not post titles they carry. Logos sells a significant amount of resources that are in the public domain - nearly everything that comes through community pricing.

Question (sorry for busting in on the conversation, but I may as well get clarity on this myself while the conversation is fresh) - Isn't there a big difference and substantial value in the work that goes into converting resources (public domain or otherwise) into Logos format?
My thoughts - The only comparison between a PBB and corresponding Logos version is the base text (I could be wrong, I'm no expert). The PBB lacks the tagging and other things that make the Logos format worth obtaining. I'm not objecting to Logos/Faithlife policy on this, just attempting to get clarity on the reasoning behind it, and I figure that you have been around long enough to possibly know the answer. [:)]

It depends on the resource and the PB "author". Logos has made it possible for us to do much of the tagging in a PB - it's jst that most shared PB's have minimal tagging. We can do all the references and people/place/thing tags that Logos does. And doing it convinces you it is worth paying them to do it.[:)] So, yes, the Logos edition still has some value added over a PB. And the fact that Logos sells it does not meaning you can't find a pdf or docx copy and make a PB of it ... it's just you have to do your own conversion work.

I never really got into the personal tagging thing, it just seem like too much thought and work (for me) to mess around with, that should and could be spent studying the Word. Best left for those at the expert level.
