iPhone 5s reading plan will not allow me to click on gray box at end of daily reading.

I am on a reading program using the ESV and at the end of each daily reading there used to be a gray box which I could click on "read" or "complete" or something (I don't remember any more) and the next day the next reading would be displayed on the home page. But for months, this box is missing from the end of the daily reading and the only way to know what I need to read next is to actually go on my computer, mark the previous day as read. Then my iPhone will show me the next reading. This is very frustrating, especially if I am where my computer is not convenient in that I don't know what I'm supposed to read next.

I tried also importing my daily reading to my calendar, but all I get is a notice that I have to do my Bible reading. It doesn't give me the reading for the day.

What am I doing wrong and why won't this stuff work anymore. I had no problem up until about 6 months ago and my husband has a reading plan and it work fine on his. I can see the gray box on his readings. So why is mine messed up?

I don't know... but hopefully we can figure it out. Some questions:

What version of the app are you running?
What version of iOS are you running?
When was the last time you did a fresh install?
Are you using your husband's credentials (which is permissible) or your own?
Do your credentials match what you are using on your desktop installation? [They should match]
Can you see the reading plan document under the documents menu on your iPhone?

Running Version 4.6.3 on iOS 8.4.
We have done a fresh install a couple of times since this started.
Using my husband's credentials, which match the desktop.

You should double and triple check... Just now you have posted using a different account than before... which means that you indeed have more than one account.

As I was writing that response, I realized that you must be using the same credentials, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the reading plan under documents. Did you open it and look at it to make sure it is the right one? If so, hopefully we have an easy fix:

Open the bible upon which the reading plan is based. Make sure it is the same translation as the reading plan document!
Press the "view settings" button ("Aa" icon). If you don't see the view settings icon, tap the text in the middle of the screen. This should make the menus appear.
Under the "This Resource" section of the "view settings" menu, press the "reading plans" tab. Make sure BOTH the "reading plans" master switch AND the specific reading plan switch you are looking for are turned on.

I never thought to ask, but I assume you are seeing the reading plan on the home page? Your only problem was having the check boxes... right? If so, I <think> you should be good to go. Let me know if that isnt the case.

Everything is fixed! I went to do what you suggested above, and it was already working. On both of our Macs, on Shirley's iPhone, and on my Galaxy S5. Perhaps just checking the documents menu for her iPhone kicked something loose? In any case, thanks for your help and patience.-Rod Groom

How long did you wait after installing 4.6.3? Checking the Documents menu won't kick anything loose, but not waiting for the app's background processing to finish after an install can cause all sorts of "bugs" that aren't really bugs. Our apps are not like a web page where as soon as you see it displayed it's finished loading.
