Mapped Network Drive

I can't get proclaim to play a video file if I open it off of a mapped network drive, but if copy said video to the desktop and open it in proclaim it works fine.....Any suggestions?

Adam, did you double check your permissions on the network drive to make sure that you are allowed all permissions? Also, does the video play in edit/preview modes?

I am able to successfully play a video that is stored locally (or synced) from a network drive so it is possible. Do you mind providing a copy of your Proclaim log file so we can see if the file is being properly referenced? Instructions can be found here.

Finally, is the video >200 MB? If not, are you referencing it locally or attempting to sync it?

Will doible check permissions. Where do I find the log file. And no it will not play in edit or preview and it's over 200mb. So no sync on that one.

I believe Peter is after the name of a presentation which currently contains a local file, mapped to your network drive. Then we can look at your presentation data and see if anything stands out in the path or how Proclaim is storing it.

of course, when I go to setup one to tell you....It starts working..........I also restarted the server where all the files reside.....that could have been just the fix I needed....thank for all you guys do and how fast you get back to us regarding support!!!!!

Thanks for the logs, Adam. When you try to play a video you get the following exception:

Exception from HRESULT: 0xC00D11B1

You can google 0xC00D11B1, which pertains to DRM licensing. This leads me to believe there may be a licensing issue with the file in question, or that this exception is resulting from another sort of permission being refused (which makes sense, since it is a network drive). Is the video file something that was purchased and may have a DRM tag on it? The other possibility that I can think of is that on the server the file may not be being accessed by an administrator. Make sure the user account on the server has full admin priveleges.

it must be that specific file........there are 6 parts of the series and just part 3 doesn't work......I can select any others and it loads right up.....If I bring part 3 to my desktop and load it from there locally, It plays fine....goofy....idk...no big deal I suppose......Thank you for your time and effort, really appreciate your help.

since I have you, what do you recommend for showing proclaim on 3 screens...using the control, and having another screen as well as the confidence...I am going to build a new computer for the sound room and am looking at core i5 quad core, 16 gigs of ddr4, samsung 850 evo ssd, and nvidia geforce gtx 750ti....do you think that should be enough to run a solid show, coming from a slow dual core xeon, I am wanting to do lots of videos as well as motion backgrounds for songs, etc.

Those specs look like they are more than sufficient, Adam. If you are looking to do things which are video intensive you are looking in the right family of cards with the GeForce GTX card. I will caution you that NVIDIA Quadro and other cards built for CAD software, while high-powered, are not recommended because of the speed at which they operate. If the machine you're building would stand up as a good gaming rig it will probably do the trick with Proclaim too.
