When a new book goes up on Community Pricing, Pre-Publication or goes on a nice sale, one of the first things I do is run a search to see how many times it's cited by works in my existing library. As FaithLife keeps saying, it's not just the individual books that matter, but the web of links between them. It isn't the only consideration, but seeing how many times a book is cited gives me a sense for how it would plug into my existing library.
I would like to suggest that FaithLife add a tool that would scan all of the links in a user's library, identify the ones that are to works that aren't currently in the library, and then list the missing works by number of links. I know this would be slow, but that's o.k. - most users wouldn't run it very often. As a purchaser, it would give me a sense for the biggest holes in my library based on my interests (as reflected in my past purchases). That would help me decide what to buy. For me, at least, it would likely be a very effective sales tool. I have no idea what the top five books most often referenced by my library that I don't own are. But if I did, there's no doubt in my mind that they'd go to the top of my wish list.
