WOW NICOT/NT $599 !

Just received an offer for this set 43 vols. $599 (another software provider)- I already own it- but it really makes me wonder why I paid an additional $1000 (I have 55 vols. due to the fact I purchased the older versions as well) for the Logos set.

Just saying, if the publisher can extend such discounts- why not here.

Please do not start the value added argument it falls on deaf ears here.

I think this is a good deal, WS offers some good deals even if their software is less than desirable. I own NICOT/NT in OT because i got it there for $769. I realize that owning it in Logos would be more useful but I also would not pay the FL price because it is much more than it is worth to me. FL is often very competitive in pricing, but times like this it feels almost foolish to purchase from them. FL users may understand how valuable integration is but for almost any new user they will go for the cheaper price 9 times out of 10.

I suspect that this might be true for many new users if they don't understand the Logos advantage.

I personally am not a new user and I'm assuming that because I am a layperson who enjoys doing simple Bible study, the Logos advantage is not worth the huge price difference. If I were wanting to invest in this series at this time, I would jump at the other deal. I'm curious if any others in my category have done this.

If I had the funds available to jump on the deal from the other Bible software company, I still would not jump on it. The NICOT/NT is a major resource, and it would have to be in the format of my primary software (Logos) or in print (the former being preferred). The reasons are obvious.

If they can extend this price cut to WS- why not FL? But If I could save a $1000 I would, just like many other who might want this resource even in L6,may appreciate a good discount, this resource is at good price even without the integration, substantially lower than $1700.

I would very much like to get the NICOT/NICNT series--looked longingly when it was at $1100 (or there about) recently, but still too rich for this layman's piggy bank. At $600, I'd very likely bite the bullet and be in, and I'd definitely be in if Eerdmans would do with NICOT/NICNT what Zondervan did recently with NIVAC and WBC. The sales on those were enough to pull me in hook, line, and sinker and I have no regrets. But as a layman, there are some things I will simply never have in my library at their current (or even past sale) prices.

Also, as a layman, I tend to go through my studies book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. So although I would prefer to keep all my resources in LOGOS and it would be nice to have the tagging LOGOS affords for other study approaches, for such a big difference in price, I have to consider other opportunities such as this when they come along.

Maybe someday, FL will offer two pricing tiers for resources like this--one with all the tagging and one without. I know... I know. But a guy can dream!

I mostly use LOGOS because the Berean School of the Bible books are available for LOGOS.

I am thinking hard about this afore mentioned sale (even though I am currently unemployed). I did take advantage of the WS sale a couple months ago on the WBC ($629) before it shot back up.

I do, to a point, understand the LOGOS advantage. For me though, I already have a ton invested in WS and will not (refuse to) duplicate it here. I am a layman and simply can not justify putting out that kind of money for (language) features I will never use. (If God decides to bless my finances beyond measure, I may reconsider my position [A] ).

The various Bible Software packages are not interchangeable in resource usage, thus, it makes sense to stay where your investment is heaviest. Prior to investing in the Logos system, I have done some preliminary legwork in looking at many of the major packages out here, and found Logos to be the best (for me). Since that time, the investment has been pretty big, so purchasing any major resource in another package would be somewhat of a waste, regardless of how much it may be discounted. Besides, I really like Logos and the Faithlife company.

My advice to everyone, is to invest in a single Bible Software package (whichever it may be) and stick with that one. In the case of the NICOT/NT, I will just wait until I can afford it, then I'll wait for a good sale. [:)]

I agree (for the most part) with all that you have said.

The main reason I even started playing around with LOGOS was... well. I like to play around with software [:D]

The reason I have continued to do so is that I can use the Berean School books on LOGOS instead of having to use PDF's or printed books.

I've added a "Few" and I do mean few books here and there. (Never turn down a free book!)

Other than that, I will be sticking with my WS system.
