I think I get it now...."my content" and searches....

I had asked a LOOONNGGG time ago...why do we want to search "our content"...it seems like a waste of time....

but now...the light went on..

I've used the notes function to collect a LOAD of notes and articles from the internet and incorporate them into Logos....and now; their content is searchable WITHIN Logos...

ahh...now I get it... Surprise

that is a very cool new feature and probably will inspire me to use notes in L4. I NEVER used them in L3 and found them quite useless, but L4 is a huge step forward... now I just need them implemented on the mac Alpha :-)

Looking at your avatar you do look a bit washed out. Did you do a search after restarting Logos4? That seems to correct my "missing" notes.

Yes, tried that, still no joy.

I had a grand plan to scan, OCR, and import hard-copy indexes into Logos Notes. Then Logos searches would also show what I had on my shelves, I found that sometimes I'm missing resources by jumping straight to Logos!

But at the moment I can't even get simple notes searchable. Any ideas folks?

What I would do is 2 simple tests:

1) Create a new note file.

2) Create a 3 or 4 word phrase and type it in as both heading and text for a note.

3) Choose a single verse reference with no complications like John 3:16; type it in as both heading an text. HIghlight the type and add the reference into URL box so that the note has the link in the note and the regular text in the heading.

4) Close note file

5) Restart Logos 4

6) do a search on a single word from the phrase; do a search on John 3:16 ... no copy & pastes

7) if either search fails, report back AND contact Logos support. If either or both succeed, get back to the forums and we'll help figure out what the problem is.

Yes, what I'm suggesting is that we do our best to determine if the problem is function or content related.

I tried the test you suggested:

When I did a basic search on a word from the note it was not found, but a search on the Scripture verse was. Unfortunately, when I ran the Passage Guide on the verse the note was not found, and it is the Passage Guide that I was hoping My Content would show up in.

Also, when I ran a basic search on a verse that I had made an annotation to it was not found, but a basic search did find the note for a verse that was in the annotation. Passage Guide had no luck finding either verse.

Now using Beta 5. Vista Home Premium.

Yes I'd already prepared test notes as you've described. With no success. I don't even get the flashing boxes to show that Logos is searching My Content, it remains greyed out.

Okay - I think it is time to call technical support. It's a functional problem. Only Logos will know what they need to know to solve the problem.

This is fixed for 4.0b, and will be available in 4.0b Beta 6. The My Content sections in Searches, Guides, and Explorer will be consistent, and you will see your Notes in all three, as well as your other documents and guides.
