Failed Installation After Download Completed

I have logos 4 installed on my computer and I just purchased some e-books. I followed the download instructions and closed logos and reopened it. The download process then began and was completed. I then clicked on the "Install Software" prompt at the lower righthand of my screen. The installation process began but a "Installation Failed" message soon appeared. I do not know how to try to install it again. I don't even know where the files were put when they downloaded to my computer. I tried going to "My Account" on logos and hitting the "Ulock and Download" button, but this got me nowhere. Any suggestions?

Have you tried opening and closing Logos 4 to see if the process would restart?

Another option is to type "Update Resources" in the command bar and hit Enter. (You may need to wait until the drop-down list shows Tool:Update Resources, then click on that and hit enter). This will force Logos 4 to check if you are missing or have out-of-date copies of resources and will download the resources you need. It may give you a 'no updates are available' in the lower right hand corner, too. (BTW: depending on how large your library is, this process can take awhile.)

Thanks for the advice Mark. Unfortunately none of you suggestions worked. I tried reopening Logos to see if it would restart the process but nothing happened. When I tried to "Update Resources" I was told that no updates were available. Thanks again for you help though. I'm open to any other sugggestions if you have any.

Jasen, were you able to discover where it put your files during installation?

If not you will already know that it is not in "Program Files"

But XP and Vista/Windows 7 have different paths to these files. Let us know which you use then someone can direct you as too which drawers to search, etc.

Also you will have to turn "on" the view of them as they are "hidden' system files.

(After Mark's advice, some of us probably though that you were "good to go" etc. Please don't hesitate to post back. The folks on this Forum have helped to solve some very difficult issues. Also the Logos developers and tech's can see your "problems" and hopefully provide suggestions).

Even providing specs on your equipment as well as your operating system sometimes is a help.

The installation process began but a "Installation Failed" message soon appeared.

In Explorer's Folder Options you need to enable viewing of "hidden files and folders".

Go to ...\Logos4\Data\{random}\DownloadManager and delete DownloadManager.db

Go to ...\Logos4\Data\{random}\UpdateManager and delete Updates.db

Also delete files and folders in ...\UpdateManager\Installers\

EDIT: Finaly rename logos4.msi in ...\Logos4\Install\installers\

Start L4 whilst holding the Ctrl key and Sign-In. This will initiate logging as well as hopefully enabling the download to resume. If necessary try Update Now in the Command bar.

You can upload any crash logs as per http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging and http://wiki.logos.com/Uploading_Logs

The standard installation path is:-

XP -> C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4

Vista/Win7 -> C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Logos4
