Need help constructing a Bible search

I'm close, but this is neither hand grenades nor horse shoes. So I need a bit of help.

I'm trying to construct a Bible Search to find the words "faith in" any member of the Trinity by a particular speaker.

For example, I tried this term to find the term spoken by Paul, but it falls a bit short:

"faith in" <Person God> WITHIN {Speaker <Person Paul>}

I'm not sure "Person God" is getting me hits on HS or Jesus, and I want the object of the faith to be a member of the trinity, not simply near the term 'faith in'. As you can see from the screenshot, I'm not getting the object part done right.

(PS: I don't want to do this in Heb/Gk if possible...want it as Bible search rather than Morph search.)

Having "faith in" and <Person God> will result in hits where both terms are present - so in Acts 20:21 the words "faith in" appear as does the Person of God. That is why you are getting the hits on that verse even though it doesn't match what you are trying to do.

It doesn't - "Person God" relates to the Father, whereas Jesus (for example) is tagged as Person Jesus.

I'll think further about how to do what you want but just wanted to respond to these two points.

is the closest that I think you will get. You will quickly find out that the formula "faith in God" is simply not very common in the Bible. You may prefer: (("faith in", "trust in", "believe in") BEFORE 6 WORDS (<Person God>, <Person Jesus>, <Person Holy Spirit>)

But that will always give false positives, like "faith in your word."

To find what you are looking for, you really need more advanced searching. I was playing with doing it in Clause search, because syntax searches are an art which is above me. Why do you want to stick with Bible search?

Because my Heb/Gk skills are minimal. I know what marketing says about that, but it ain't so.

I think I recall a suggestion a couple years back for a 'Trinity' tag. The FL folks weren't interested at the time.

Search using Sense finds three verses in ESV

(<Sense = trust in the gospel>,<Sense = to trust (faith)>) BEFORE 4 WORDS (<Person God>, <Person Jesus>, <Person Holy Spirit>) WITHIN {Speaker <Person Paul>}

Bible Search finds 80 verses in ESV:

<Sense = to trust (faith)> BEFORE 4 WORDS (<Person God>, <Person Jesus>, <Person Holy Spirit>)

Bible Search found 71 verses in ESV:

<Sense = trust in the gospel>

You don't need languages to do Clause Search.

Run this as a clause search, for example. You could save it as a passage list and then do a Bible search for speaker:

(verb-sense:to trust (faith) OR verb-sense:to believe (accept)) AND (stimulus:God OR stimulus:Jesus OR stimulus:Holy Spirit)

If you are missing passages you think should show up, we can tweak this.

The phrase "faith in" can occur where "in" is inserted for clarity in the translation e.g. "faith" followed by "in God" (Act 27:25, ESV). As the separation from "God" is less than 1 WORD you need:

("faith in" BEFORE 0-5 WORDS...
