How Do I Reset the Font Size of My Entire Library?

Hello,

I changed the font size on numerous books in my library. Is there a way to change my entire library to its original font size? I know that there’s a Default Resource Text Size in the Program Settings. But this option doesn’t change the books I changed in the past to its original font size. If it’s easier, is there a way to change all the settings for my entire library to its original settings?

It's been my experience the program settings run most of the books in the library, but the ones I have changed the font size myself was by clicking on the resource tab and the very top line is where you can adjust the font size and those books are not ran by program settings but override the settings because I changed it in the resource.The only other way I know to change it back is when you find a resource and want to change the font size just click the resource tab and change it to your liking. If you match it with what is in the programs settings then I am pretty sure the programs settings will now be back in charge of the resource.

I haven't tried this and can't right now, but I think this might work. Under "program settings", "text display", "default text resource size" the text size can be adjusted.

It sounds like I’m having the same experience. Since I’ve changed the font size on so many resources, I’m looking for a quick and easy way to reset the font size on all of them.

I had the same question a couple years ago and just settled on as I find those resources when I use them then I can change them back to the program settings. If I miss a few it's not big deal because I may never look in them again. But if I do at that time I will just change it match program settings.

I think restoring default settings doesn't work because, as Matt Hamrick pointed out, adjusting the font size from the resource tab overrides program settings.

I agree that it should work as Matt indicated at the individual setting level. But factory settings to me meanings "factory settings" and would be used when I wanted to set everything back to "factory settings" ... but that isn't how the programmer/documenter understood it.

If you're in Program Settings and click "Reset Defaults", it changes all the program settings back to the defaults. That's very simple and straightforward, I think, and exactly what I think most people would expect.

What it doesn't do (which is what Richard wants) is also to change all the resource settings back to defaults. That's not possible unfortunately.

But it would be terrible if resetting the program settings to defaults also changed all your resource settings (visual filters, footnotes, columns, text zoom and so on).

Thanks MJ, but this option does not work for those resources we change the font size in the resource. I have changed the size in 100s of resources over the years which is why I told Richard to change them back as he comes to them. I could find no other way to change those resources back to match the program settings (in one shot) unless you do it at the tab resource which is where you changed the size of the font to begin with.

While this doesn't do what the OP asked about, you can quickly and easily change font size in individual resources using Ctrl+= to increase and Ctrl+- to decrease font sizes dynamically. Once you get used to the combination, it's easy to make quick changes. I generally use a smaller font on my laptop and a larger font on my desktop, and thanks to this shortcut I can switch font sizes whenever I switch computers.

If this is the case, you may be better increasing the program scaling on your desktop (or reducing it on your laptop). Program scaling is a local setting that doesn't sync between your devices.
