iApp vs. Android comparison

It appears that I, a forever Windows & Android user, am slowly but inevitably getting pulled into the Apple ecosystem. I may have a choice between a MacBook and a higher-end iPad. What I can do with Logos on each one will be a major factor in deciding.

In some ways, a tablet would be better for my needs. If I understand correctly, I can only run the app, not the full Logos program, on an iPad. My question is, how does it compare to the Android app? IIRC the iApp is older and more developed. Also, my main needs for a portable version of Logos are things like passage guides (surely included) AND the ability to copy & paste Bible verses in different formats (maybe not). How does the iApp perform in these areas?

And, any suggestions even off-topic on how to make "The Switch" would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't used the Android app for some time but I think they are fairly close in functionality. There are a few things that are present on each one but not on the other but I don't have details available.

Yes - assuming you are online. But many of the sections of the Logos 6 passage guide are not currently available on the iPad

You can use Visual Copy but the Copy Bible Verses Tool is not available

If you want to do significant study and have access to a significant amount of the Logos 6 capability you will need to have a platform that can run the full application.

While MacOS and iOS are coming closer and closer together in the Logos world they are still a good way apart.

If Logos was my main tool then I would go with the MacBook in a heart beat (and in half a heart beat if I could call on an iPhone in extremis)

The macBook has great battery life, will tether easily to your iPhone for mobile wi-fi and give you all the functionality of a desktop. For many years I used a macBook as my primary computer simply plugging in a second monitor when I wanted to work for long periods at home or in the office. That way I effectively took my Desktop machine with me all the time.

ipad will definitely not replace a macbook in general or specifically for logos. i think you'll be frustrated with only the ios app. its a good app, but very different from having the full blown program on a macbook

My 2¢

In general, if I could only have ONE device, it would be a MacBook Pro. I have the smaller iPad Pro and love it... As far as Logos goes, I believe that the mobile app (on iPad) is SUPERIOR to the desktop app for the purpose of extended reading and highlighting. Anything else, imo, is best accomplished on the MacBook.

FWIW - If I am JUST reading (and highlighting / taking notes isn't involved), I prefer a Kindle Paperwhite.
