Logos/Verbum 7 Support of MacOS Sierra 10.12

Hi all,

OK, I'll bite and be the first!

Apple just released macOS Sierra (V10.12) upgrade to the public. Do you have any guidance if the latest version of Logos/Verbum 7 released yesterday officially supports the new macOS release?

Should I upgrade at this point? Thanks.

The general answer given each year is roughly this: If you use Logos vocationally, you would be advised to take a "wait and see" approach. FL does not support their software on beta versions of OS's, and it typically takes a little time for us to get the green light from FL.

I do know that some users have been up and running with Sierra. I am downloading it now, but my Logos usage is minimally tied to my current work. If I were preaching on Sunday, I would not be updating now.

I decided to live on the edge. I drank some milk on the expiration date and then upgraded to Sierra before Fatihlife could confirm its support. [H]

I have been running Verbum 7 on my MacBook Pro with no problems yet.

I know. What I mean is that FL's comments up until yesterday would have all said "we don't support beta OS's." It is often several days before we hear an official "ok," but even then, If you depend upon Logos for your occupation, I would be more cautious about upgrading until you hear from other lab rats.

It is not very good marketing on the part of Faithlife. Everyone who cares knew that macOS Sierra would be released today. They have had months to test Logos/Verbum 7 (and V6) with the new Sierra release. They should have been able to provide an official answer proactively and concurrently with Apple's official release.

I have Verbum 7 and just finished installing macOS Sierra 10.12. I haven't found any problems with it. Searches seem to go faster and I noticed scrolling seemed smoother. That's my superficial experience so far.

I have been running for about 24 hours and have not seen any aberration in behavior. I guess it is not a big deal seeing as the Logos system requirements page on the web has 10.10 Yosemite as the official version - two versions back. You misunderstand the purpose of "system requirements." Users with operating systems OLDER than 10.10 are unsupported, which is what is meant by that page.

Actually, I would write "At least 2GB of RAM" or I would specify Minimum System Requirements somewhere on the page. Nevertheless, it still doesn't state that macOS Sierra 10.12 is supported, but simply implies it. If I have 8GB of RAM, then there is no question that the additional 6GB did not break the original 2GB. However, Apple could have easily added something to macOS Sierra that would break the proper functionality of Logos/Verbum. macOS Sierra is not necessarily a perfect superset of OS X Yosemite.

I decided to jump to Sierra about an hour or so after it was announced. as available. There was an update to Safari 10 just prior to Sierra on the App Store. This is possibly my smoothest experience with any OS update. No issues with Logos 7 SR-3 so far.

Apple does not seem to be strongly pushing this release. I finally had to conduct a search for Sierra to find any mention of the new OS. When I finally found the What's in it page, I was underwhelmed. Frankly, I did not see much worth upgrading, except perhaps the more extensive use of iCloud. Considering the panicked threads on these forums about Logos using the Cloud, this should get some attention.

Thought the enhanced storage feature might be worth-while until I saw that I have more than 2.5 TB free space left on my main HD. If you store a lot of videos, this feature may interest you. As for Siri on my desktop, as much as she irritates me on my iOS devices, I don't need to being her home.

What's the point of this post? I do not know; just rambling thoughts. I apologize for wasting your time that it took to read this [:P]

That was interesting, but Cmd-Tab has always worked well for me. Someone with a 13" MBAir might object to that use of screen real estate.

I had no intentions of purchasing the original gen Apple Watch. My wife, who is not really a techie, wanted one. She is in meetings all day long and texts with bosses/employees constantly. She found it was a great benefit to her and mentioned that she wished I had one. I found an "open box buy" (which was still shrink wrapped!) and paired that with a sale going on AND "shop kicks" gift cards. I think I paid around $50 out of pocket... I enjoy it, but it isn't perfect.

I'm also on macOS Sierra / Logos 7, not having problems.

I did notice the return of some disk space after the upgrade about 15GB so that was very nice.
