Today I received an email that The Archaeology of Rome resource in Community Pricing is closing on Friday at $56. This is much higher than I would have liked it to be. Just wanted to ask for some other opinions. Is it worth it?

Judging from past CPs like this it would sit on a virtual shelf near the bottom of the dungeon never to be seen again. Besides $56 <choke> is on the high side when more modern information can probably be found in past BAR issues and the internet. That money will go for something I know I'll use.
I agree with Robert. In areas such as this, technique and method have changed so much over the last 100 years that these resources would only be of interest to me from the point of view of the history of the discipline.
Sometimes old books have nice line drawings, but I cannot find information whether this book have them. And sometimes the digitizing of the line drawings and maps in Logos books is low quality.
I have the same question about the value of this at $56. For those of this desiring it at a lower price I wonder how far the price could drop if we all actually increases or bid to $56. $48 looks quite possible, but not sure if it could fall to the next peg at $40. $48 is still too high, but I've taken the plunge and increased bid to $56. If it doesn't drop I can always cancel the prepub. Well never know how far it could drop if we don't all take the plunge.
I agree that this is something to consider. I'm concerned that the quality of this might not be that great. Here is a sample of one of the plates - https://www.logos.com/images/PageScans/41495pages/002/41495_002_02.jpg
I'm kind of wondering if this will wind up in a future package. It's not the most compelling of subjects.

This has been a real disappointment to me with a number of community pricing resources in the past. It baffles me why FaithLife doesn't provide higher resolution scans. I've gotten to where I largely any disregard maps and illustrations when evaluating the potential value of a community pricing offering.
Totally agree. I tossed around the idea of getting it, but came to the same conclusions.
mm.
Is this resource worth $56? No.
Nine volumes and close to three thousand pages on the history and architecture of one of the most important cities in Christianity, and probably the single most important classical site of antiquity? For 56 bucks?
Count me in.
It's too expensive for me.
I would be willing to pay around $20 for something like this, since I love archaeology and also have a graduate degree in it. It would be good to have, just because it would probably have some of the original drawings and plans, which are often not reprinted in newer books on the same subject. But then if the quality of the maps, etc. would be low, then it is not worth the price, even at $20
