New Pre-Pub pricing policy

Our Pre-Pub program is the best way to get your the books you need and build your Logos library. It gets you the earliest access to the best books at great prices. Over the next year, are going to work on ways to make the Pre-Pub program even better. The first change we’re going to make is a new, clear pricing policy.
Starting Monday, December 5, we will be updating our Pre-Pub program to include a low-price guarantee.
All Pre-Pub orders will have a 6-month lowest-price guarantee. If we offer a book for less than its Pre-Pub price within 6 months of shipping, contact us and we will give you the difference in Logos credit.
Logos Now members will have a 1-year lowest-price guarantee on Pre-Pub orders. To take advantage of this, you must have been a Logos Now member when the book shipped.
The new policy will be backdated to apply to all books purchased through Pre-Pub in the previous 6 months (1 year for Now members).
This policy applies only to sales on stand-alone Pre-Pub books and bundles (i.e. not prices reflected in base packages).
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you Ben. How will this affect publisher sales? E.g. If zondervan offers a sale will logos pass it off onto its customers or ignore it like in the past.

Great start! Thank you for listening and planning these changes and other changes to come. 👍

Great question. Part of the reason we are making this change is so that we can participate in publisher sales like the one from Zondervan.

Ben, thanks for everyone's efforts to come up with this pricing policy!
One question. I assume even though you mention Pre-Pub books, it would also hold true for other Pre-Pub resources such as Mobile Ed?
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Well done to Logos for listening to customers on this issue. There is no perfect solution but this is a reasonable solution that shows a little bit of respect to customers who do support prepubs but does not lock out forever customers who for whatever reason we're not able to buy at prepub price.Ben Amundgaard said:

I thought of another question. What happens to items that were on prepub greater than 6 months ago? Are they locked out forever or can they go on sale now?

They are not locked out forever. They are eligible to go on sale.

It sounds like a great improvement, that will unbind your hand from opportunities to offer great sales.

Ben, did you see my question as to whether this applied to any Pre-Pub (such as Mobile Ed), or only to books?
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Hi Ben.
For LN subscribers, this now applies to the D.A.Carson sermon sale which is currently running. (well spotted Dave Colclough)
Will this happen automatically? or do we each have to apply individually?
If automatic then either I have not received anything in the last year, or this sort of 'improvement to the pre-pubsystem' is very rare.
If we each have to apply it seems that unless we all have the eagle eyes of Dave, few are going to notice.
Thanks.

Thanks for the heads-up, Martin. Ben's post says contact us, so that's what I've done. I think this is the first example. I keep quite a close eye on sales. I wouldn't be surprised if Logos are testing the waters with this one, to see how many people contact them for the refund. It would have been easy for them to hold the sale until after the 12-months had elapsed. Hopefully that means we can expect some other sales before the end of the year.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for checking. That's a good question.
To get the credit, you'll have to call customer service. They can apply the credit to your account.
There probably are very few (if any so far) instances where we've dropped the price below pre-pub.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

Thanks everyone for posting and making us aware of this credit. I called and it took a little while to verify my status, but I've received my credit.

Ben said, “To take advantage of this, you must have been a Logos Now member when the book shipped.“
Here is the question my membership expired I think in August or September of this year (2017). That means I’m not a LN member now but I was when the resource shipped. From what he says it seems like I can still get credit for it; since he said, “you must have been...” not “must still be...”
Am I right or wrong? Hey, it’s $14 bucks and change and I know where to use it 👍😁👌
Thanks!

Thanks! News might be coming in, though, to clear up any possible confusion. The CS rep was outstanding! Great service 👍😁👌

It did happen before. The Animated HD Commentary had a lower price than PP during March Madness, by one Dollar if I remember right. Back then, everyone involved in the discussion had received a promotional coupon for already owning the non animated version, so the consensus was not to claim that one buck.

In that, Ben contradicts the original communication: "If you have no LN subscription, you still have a 6 months' lowest price guarantee." (or similar wording).

Thanks Ben.
I sent an email this morning ... and received a reply promptly which confirmed the credit.
Just to clarify for others (outside of the US) ... email will do, you do not have to call :-)

For my own edification - I am not a pastor - I thought of buying a couple of these, but the previews seemed to be chatty, a bit diffuse.
I wonder if U could give me your opinion on this series. Thanks, Dal.

Would it be possible for FL to ensure that pre-pub books and bundles are sold for at least one year?
A case in point is the Tyndale Commentaries upgrade, which is no longer sold since its books were rebundled with the complete commentary set.
Pre-pub customers originally paid $119 for the new volumes, but this month's Tyndale commentaries sale (with dynamic pricing) let customers get the new volumes for $21. If the original upgrade was still sold, it might have gone on sale too, giving people the opportunity to save via your lowest price guarantee.
Thanks for your consideration.

That's a very good suggestion Petah. This would give more assurance to customers that we are getting the best deal when we buy at the pre-pub stage, (even if the resource goes on sale later) which was the reason for the pre-pub guarantee in the first place.
Colin.

Seems fair - I didn't get stung on this, but would have been fairly annoyed if I had!
